Not an Iowan.

But it is a very smart play to NOT assume anything about the former Huckabee supporters backing Huckabee again. Huckabee is not making that assumption based on his clear plan to go back to the retail politics ground game that characterized his first run.

He's going to go out and earn it again.

What is different is that he can do retail this time while also doing major media. Where you blue screen sat-link to the major media or talk-media doesn't matter.

I read an article a while ago on National Journal Online, basically suggesting that Gov. Huckabee is taking an equal support of his by Iowans this time around for granted and is making a mistake in that assumption.

I'm glad to see that that article probably just spilled the thoughts of someone with an anti-Huckabee bias.

I saw the article too. It looked like it was all staff swagger or projection from other campaigns.

What the candidate actually does, especially regarding his physical location, says way more.

The spin on the article was that since they have a "turn key" operation they must be taking it for granted. No they have a turn key operation for exactly the opposite reason. What seemed lost on the writer is the fact that the reason they have a turn key operation is because Huckabee has maintained contact with the folks in Iowa and not let the structure he built fall apart due to neglect.

With a standing room only capacity with over 50 people in attendance Huckabee discussed the threat of a nuclear Iran, wage stagnation, ISIS and Islamic terrorism in his remarks. He said that he was “weeks away” from making his decision about running for President.

THis is good stuff. He's coming on pretty strong, looking and sounding like a seasoned candidate.

So it is now "weeks away," and not months until he announces! Anticipation is building.
