this is a very interesting blog piece from a Liberal Democrat focusing on what will be next for the Republican Party. He notes that the party needs a Howard Dean like figure to head the National Committee and suggests that Mike Huckabee could be that person. However he doubts that the party will come to that conclusion and a blood bath will ensue between what the blogger says between the "Corporate Cons and the Theocons" He does note that the battle has already been waged in Kansas and the Theocons won.

Unfortunately I'd have to sign up to leave a comment and I don't want to do that. A very interesting article. It does bring up a few points

1. Huckabee is confused by some of the masses and that is thanks to the media that kept pushing him as an evangelical nutjob (as well as his supporters). Over the next four years we are really going to have to work on controlling the narrative and make sure people truly understand his policies and that he is almost a mix of both.

2. Money - Can someone let this guy know that most of Huck's support came from people really hurting thanks to the economy before the crisis and that we didn't have a whole lot to give?

What can you take out of the article?

The RNC chairmanship is a stepping stone for political staffers but a tomb stone for elected officials.

A very good point. Also there is a difference between Howard Dean and Mike Huckabee. the effort behind Howard Dean peaked early as the grassroots efforts for him started way in advance of the 2004 Primaries. The grassroots behind Huckabee only really got working somewhat efficiently a month or two before the Iowa Caucuses and still remain in place ready to go if we have another shot.
