Last evening, my husband and I filled our car's gas tank with gasoline for $2.07 per gallon. We could have saved $.08 more cents if we had our supermarket points, making it $1.99. That is getting back down to what we paid a year ago.

Also, the E-85 ethanol was selling for $1.67, for those whose vehicles are so-equipped.

Deisel fuel is the most variable. In our local town, it ranged from $2.80 to over $4.00 per gallon.

Just wondering... Are fuel prices coming down in your area of the country? What does this mean for our economy? I have heard some say it is coming down too quickly ($.50 in 2 weeks), and certain investors would be hurt.

Some of us who drive a lot are surely relieved. We just wish the diesel price would come down, as we rely more heavily on it for our living.

Here in North Georgia the average price is lingering around $2.39-2.49

However, there is this crazy price war going on between a couple of gas stations I pass on the way to work. I've seen them dip down to $1.89 with lines 13 cars back, often 6 or 7 parked in the turn lane on the road.

I was thinking about this too.

On 7/11/2008, I paid $4.43/gallon.

Today, 10/28/2008, gas is $2.95/gallon.
*****************************
I posted here, back on Oct. 28th...

In just two weeks the price of a gallon of gasoline in our area has dropped 52 cents/gallon...!

Still around $3.10 a gallon in beautiful Central Oregon. It's come down quite a bit in the last month though.

I just checked gasbuddy.com and it shows $2.38 here in Panama City, Fl. I have .40 off per gallon from my Winn Dixie Card. We are a tourist city with the beaches so we pay more...

I've done mileage comparisons many times over the years and my vehicles do best with Shell gas. The closest Shell station to me is Flying J. According to their website regular unleaded is $2.299 http://www.flyingj.com/flyingjPortalWebProject/flyingjPortal.portal?_pageLabel=flyingjPortal_portal_page_60&_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=gasprices_1_1&gasprices_1_1_actionOverride=%252Fflyingj%252Fgas%252FgasPricePageFlow%252FgetGasPricesByState&gasprices_1_1wlw-select_key%3A%7BactionForm.stProvCode%7DOldValue=true&gasprices_1_1wlw-select_key%3A%7BactionForm.stProvCode%7D=IL

You can change the page to find out prices in different areas.

In rural East Texas regular is $2.25 and has dropped 70 cents in about a month. Strange, when McCain/Palin began making some headway with the energy slogan for drilling here and drilling now, the price per barrel began to drop rather quickly. Could our "friends" in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela be trying to influence this election? Ya think ??

Thanks, all! It is very interesting to see how much we vary in price at the pump across America!

It does make you wonder, Sandra, what our "friends" in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela are thinking and doing re: upping the price? And if it has anything to do with elections?
