I think Sen Rubio has the right idea here. Make the narrative very strictly about "Saving Medicare," get every GOP office holder on message, and keep hammering away. "Entitlement reform" is too wonky a phrase for the non-political to get behind.

The times are winter, watch, a world undone:
They waste, they wither worse; they as they run
Or bring more or more blazon man’s distress.
And I not help. Nor word now of success:
All is from wreck, here, there, to rescue one—
Work which to see scarce so much as begun
Makes welcome death, does dear forgetfulness.
Or what is else? There is your world within.
There rid the dragons, root out there the sin.
Your will is law in that small commonweal…

The most difficult part is getting people to understand that cutting back on certain parts of Medicare is needed to save the program as a whole. And getting people to understand that this needs to happen soon. Once the government goes into default, the cuts will be much more painful.

Medicare is already a busted system. It's part of the reason that medical care is so expensive, along with the problem of health care insurance coming through 3rd party sources, such as your employer.

I know I'm in the minority, as most people believe in the Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security entitlement systems. I think they are all doomed to failure, and on top of that, they are immoral. I am currently in my early 30's, and I have no illusion that those systems will exist in their current form whenever I retire. I plan on taking care of myself.

Wow... Rubio is very good on messaging. Forget about who's most conservative -- we need Republicans who can sell an idea!
