What is happening with the so-called Palestinian unilateral bid for statehood?

This effort, while sounding "fair" on the surface, means in reality that terrorist or radical Islamist groups want to declare a separate Arab state on Israeli territory and call it Palestine, all without sitting down for talks with the leaders of Israel and coming to agreements for land swaps, etc. Additionally, they want to force this to happen without ever declaring Israel's right to exist, bypassing talks and appealing directly to the United Nations for help. The latest bid is to take Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, and use United Nations forces to expel Jews from their own city and make it a "Palestinian" capital. Americans must oppose these efforts, which would deny Israel's right and ability to exist and would almost certainly mean the eventual annihilation of Jews by Arab terrorists.

Over 40 of the 100 plus nation countries in the United Nations are Muslim nations that want to create a new world order under Sharia law and Muslim control--another caliphate revived.

It is time for our American President to firmly stand behind our best ally in the Middle East and declare that we will protect Israel's sovereignty and right to build houses and retain property in its own land. It is time that the terrorists be exposed for who they are and what they want to do to take over the entire Middle East and to defeat the West, as well. The avowed intent of these groups--Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah (the group started by PLO's Yasser Arafat), the anti-Christian "Arab Spring," and the terror-spawning Muslim Brotherhood--is anti-freedom, anti-Israel, anti-Jewish, anti-Christian, anti-American. Those who love freedom must oppose the rising conquest of Muslim jihadism, which threatens to overtake western nations and certain areas of the U.S.

- - - - - - - - -

What is happening with the ongoing bid for a United Nations vote for statehood that PLO leaders and other Muslim leaders are campaigning for, now with the Security Council?

This is a continuation of the above post and my attempt to update ourselves on the happenings regarding the bid to make Palestine a UN recognized Arab state, without talks or acknowledging Israel's right to exist. Now, they want the UN to declare Jerusalem capital of Palestine, not Israel.

As another article (above) from yesterday's post points out, both French President Sarkozy and President Obama were caught off-mic dissing Israel's PM Netanyahu. I was glad to hear the President ask Sarkozy for France not to vote in favor of Palestine now, at the Security Council committee meetings.

Some events transpiring:
1) The UN council needs 9 member countries to vote to seize Jerusalem and declare an Arab state in Israel, minus the threatened U.S. veto. Currently, the vote is deadlocked to push back borders to pre-1967 borders. Only 8 of the 9 nation votes have been secured: Russia, China, Brazil, India, Lebanon, South Africa, Gabon, and Nigeria.

2) Six voters may abstain: USA, Britain, France, Colombia, Germany and Portugal.

3) Only one nation is undecided: Bosnia-Herzegovina. Their coalition presidency of Muslim, Serb and Croatian sides cannot agree. If that nation sides against Israel, only the Obama Administration can stop the Muslims from seizing Israel by an allowed U.S. veto. He has promised to do so if needed.

4) The UN committee delayed their vote Friday on whether to seize Jerusalem from Israel, reporting that they are deadlocked and still debating Palestinian independence using pre-1967 borders, which would leave Israel with about 1/3 of the land, an indefensible situation.

5) Voice of America reports: "Palestinian U.N. envoy Riyad Mansour said Friday that his government will 'quickly' decide on the next step. He added that Palestinian authorities are determined to succeed in the membership bid and that he believes they will succeed..."

6) Among options for the Palestinians: "They can ask a U.N. Security Council member state to call for a vote in the council. However, if they win the votes required for approval, the U.S. says it will veto the move. The Palestinians can also petition the U.N. General Assembly to upgrade their status, which would expand their ability to participate in U.N. activities." (VOA)

7) Reuters reports: "[PLO Pres.] Abbas applied for full U.N. membership for the state of Palestine on September 23. The request is now being considered by the Security Council, but the United States [may or may not] veto it in the 15-nation body if it is brought to a vote...

"The Palestinians would score a moral victory and force Washington to cast its veto if they can muster nine votes to support them in the council. A council resolution needs 9 votes [out of 15] in favor [of an independent Palestine and pre-1967 borders] and no vetoes to pass." (Reuters)

8 ) Please pray that the threat of a U.S. veto will cause the Palestinian faction to cease this effort. Also, please pray that our President will have a change of heart about his speech this spring that advocated a return of Israel to pre-1967 borders. This is all the more reason to defeat Pres. Obama and replace him with a conservative who supports Israel. Now he is facing re-election and keeping the huge Democrat majority among Jewish voters in America on his side. But if he wins a second term, his firmness on a veto would be much less reliable, since he would no longer need their vote.

One of the biggest reasons we need to support Israel as a power in the Middle East is its ability to counter the terrorist threat that the leaders of Iran pose against the free world. This is particularly true with the threat of nuclear weaponizing by Iran's radical President Ahmadinejad. As Gov. Huckabee spoke recently before a crowd of veterans at Branson, MO, Iran's nuclear program must be stopped, because of their threat to actually use their bombs to destroy Israel and attack America.

Quote:
After Stuxnet: Iran Detects Another Computer Virus
Just one day after the mysterious blast at a missiles base, Iran claims it has foiled a cyber-attack by the Duqu virus.

Iran announced on Sunday it had detected Duqu, a computer virus that experts say is based on Stuxnet, the virus that hit the Islamic Republic’s computers last year.

“We are in the initial phase of fighting the Duqu virus,” Gholamreza Jalali, the head of Iran’s civil defense organization, told the official IRNA news agency. “The final report which says which organizations the virus has spread to and what its impacts are has not been completed yet.”

He added, “All the organizations and centers that could be susceptible to being contaminated are being controlled.”

According to the Reuters news agency, news of Duqu surfaced in October when security software maker Symantec Corp said it had found a mysterious virus that contained code similar to Stuxnet.

Duqu appeared to be designed to gather data to make it easier to launch future cyber attacks, experts told Reuters. Stuxnet was aimed at crippling industrial control systems and may have destroyed some of the centrifuges Iran uses to enrich uranium.

After Stuxnet targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities and other industrial sites last year, the Islamic Republic acknowledged that it had affected a limited number of centrifuges at its main uranium enrichment facility in the central city of Natanz. However, it claimed its scientists discovered and neutralized the malware before it could cause serious damage.

In April, Iran said its nuclear program had once again been attacked, this time by a different computer virus called Stars.

The Stuxnet attack is widely believed to have been an Israeli cyber-attack, but Israel has not admitted it.

The attempted Duqu attack was announced just one day after a mysterious blast at a missile base southwest of Tehran.

17 people were killed in the explosion, including a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards missile expert.

Could it be that future wars will be fought in the cyberspace? If the Duqu attack is able to cause a blast at a missile base, could this be the method Israel might use to destroy the Iranian nuclear bombs? And what does this mean for the security of America's weapon systems, against cyber attacks from other nations?

One would think that with all the Arab nations supporting the Palestinian statehood, there would be no problem funding this effort of the PLO. Yet, as this article states, without the U.S. and Israel funding the PA (Palestinian Authority) they may not be able to survive.

Cabinet Votes to Maintain PA Funds Freeze
The Netanyahu government has decided to maintain its deep freeze on $100 million in monthly tax revenue transfers to Ramallah.

Israel's cabinet voted Monday to maintain its freeze on tax revenue transfers to the Palestinian Authority.

The decision was taken contrary to recent reports the two-week freeze would be short-lived in PA affiliated media sources.

Israel transfers some $100 million in tax payments to the PA every month, but an eight-minister forum decided to withhold funds from Ramallah following the PA's admission to UNESCO in October.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak is against the move and has stressed in private talks that withholding funds will compromise the PA's ability to pay security forces working to thwart terror attacks in Judea and Samaria.

Barak and officials in the defense establishment pressured the government to release the funds.

Barak also reportedly supported the Obama administration, which pressured US lawmakers to unfreeze about $200 million in foreign aid dollars to the PA.

Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, a long-time advocate of the tax revenue transfer, maintains PA unilateral steps at the United Nations must be answered firmly.

Tax revenue transfers to the PA are directly linked to the bilateral 1993 Oslo Accords, which expressly proscribe [condemn or forbid as harmful or unlawful--Webster] unilateral steps.

Senior financial officials for the PA have said, amid the Arab Spring revolts and the failure of Arab governments to meet their aid pledges, the PA is on the brink of fiscal ruin.

Both US and Israel fund transfers to Ramallah are broadly viewed as critical to PA survival.

Here is more evidence and a report from the IAEA regarding Iran's nuclear weapon capability. This is reported on Joel C. Rosenberg's blog.

Quote:
NEW U.N. REPORT ERASES ALL DOUBTS: IRAN IS DEVELOPING NUCLEAR WARHEADS AND THE MISSILES TO DELIVER THEM
Posted: November 14, 2011 by joelcrosenberg in Uncategorized

The IAEA has released a 25-page report on Iran’s nuclear activities. After just returning from a week-long trip out of the country, I’ve finally had the opportunity to read the entire report. While its language is diplomatic and often highly-technical, the report erases all doubts that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons.

The U.N. report concludes there is “credible” evidence that:

Iran is systematically enriching nuclear fuel towards military applications.
Iran — since the late-1970s — has been building clandestine nuclear facilities to evade international detection.
Iran’s nuclear program no longer run by civilians but by the Ministry of Defense.
Iran is steadily developing nuclear warheads.
Iran is developing long-range ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear warheads against her enemies.
Iran has made preparations to test its first nuclear bomb.
Iran did not cease developing military applications for its nuclear program in 2003, as the CIA reported in its controversial National Intelligence Estimate in 2007, but rather accelerated its efforts to develop the Bomb.

The New York Times editorial page concluded that the report is chillingly comprehensive. It says that Iran created computer models of nuclear explosions, conducted experiments on nuclear triggers and did advanced research on a warhead that could be delivered by a medium-range missile. What gives the report particular credibility is its meticulous sourcing. The agency’s director, Yukiya Amano, built a case on more than a thousand pages of documents, the assistance of more than 10 agency member states and interviews with ‘a number of individuals who were involved in relevant activities in Iran.’”

A separate news story by the New York Times noted, “The I.A.E.A. report’s detailed revelations are a fascinating role reversal from 2003, when the United States and Britain claimed Iraq was seeking to rekindle its nuclear program. In that case, the agency warned that the Bush administration’s case was weak and that some of the evidence was forged. Now, it is the normally cautious agency that is taking the lead, arguing that years of study had led it to the conclusion that, despite Iran’s denials, the country engaged in an active program to design nuclear warheads, among other technologies.”

The question now is what steps will the U.S., Israel and the international community take to neutralize the Iran nuclear threat before it’s too late. The Obama administration does not appear to be considering a decisive new policy, but some of the GOP candidates are. I’ll analyze this tomorrow. In the meantime, please pray for wisdom for U.S. and Israeli leaders. Please pray that some approach short of war can be taken to stop Iran. Please also pray for — and consider financially supporting — The Joshua Fund as we continue to care for poor and needy Israelis and Palestinians and stockpile supplies ahead of the next war.

Here are some the IAEA report’s key findings:

“Contrary to the relevant resolutions of the Board of Governors and the Security Council, Iran has not suspended its [uranium] enrichment related activities in the following declared facilities, all of which are nevertheless under Agency safeguards.” (main text, p. 3)

The Agency is still awaiting a substantive response from Iran to Agency requests for further information in relation to announcements made by Iran concerning the construction of ten new uranium enrichment facilities, the sites for five of which, according to Iran, have been decided, and the construction of one of which was to have begun by the end of the last Iranian year (20 March 2011) or the start of this Iranian year. In August 2011, Dr Abbasi was reported as having said that Iran did not need to build new enrichment facilities during the next two years….As a result of Iran’s lack of cooperation on those issues, the Agency is unable to verify and report fully on these matters.” (p. 5)

“The information indicates that Iran has carried out the following activities that are relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device…Efforts, some successful, to procure nuclear related and dual use equipment and materials by military related individuals and entities;….The acquisition of nuclear weapons development information and documentation from a clandestine nuclear supply network; Work on the development of an indigenous design of a nuclear weapon including the testing of components. While some of the activities identified in the Annex have civilian as well as military applications, others are specific to nuclear weapons.” (p. 8)

“The Agency has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran’s nuclear programme. After assessing carefully and critically the extensive information available to it, the Agency finds the information to be, overall, credible. The information indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device. The information also indicates that prior to the end of 2003, these activities took place under a structured programme, and that some activities may still be ongoing.” (p. 10)

“Specifically, it was discovered that, as early as the late 1970s and early 1980s, and continuing into the 1990s and 2000s, Iran had used undeclared nuclear material for testing and experimentation in several uranium conversion, enrichment, fabrication and irradiation activities, including the separation of plutonium, at undeclared locations and facilities.” (Annex: Possible Military Dimensions To Iran’s Nuclear Programme, p. 1)

“The development of safe, fast-acting detonators, and equipment suitable for firing the detonators, is an integral part of a programme to develop an implosion type nuclear device. Included among the alleged studies documentation are a number of documents relating to the development by Iran, during the period 2002–2003, of fast functioning detonators, known as “exploding bridgewire detonators” or “EBWs” as safe alternatives to the type of detonator described for use in the nuclear device design.” (Annex, p. 8)

“The Agency has information provided by a Member State that Iran may have planned and undertaken preparatory experimentation which would be useful were Iran to carry out a test of a nuclear explosive device. In particular, the Agency has information that Iran has conducted a number of practical tests to see whether its EBW firing equipment would function satisfactorily over long distances between a firing point and a test device located down a deep shaft. Additionally, among the alleged studies documentation provided by that Member State, is a document, in Farsi, which relates directly to the logistics and safety arrangements that would be necessary for conducting a nuclear test. The Agency has been informed by a different Member State that these arrangements directly reflect those which have been used in nuclear tests conducted by nuclear-weapon States.” (Annex, p. 11)

“The alleged studies documentation contains extensive information regarding work which is alleged to have been conducted by Iran during the period 2002 to 2003 under what was known as Project 111. From that information, the project appears to have consisted of a structured and comprehensive programme of engineering studies to examine how to integrate a new spherical payload into the existing payload chamber which would be mounted in the re-entry vehicle of the Shahab 3 missile….Iran has denied conducting the engineering studies, claiming that the documentation which the Agency has is in electronic format and so could have been manipulated, and that it would have been easy to fabricate. However, the quantity of the documentation, and the scope and contents of the work covered in the documentation, are sufficiently comprehensive and complex that, in the Agency’s view, it is not likely to have been the result of forgery or fabrication. While the activities described as those of Project 111 may be relevant to the development of a non-nuclear payload, they are highly relevant to a nuclear weapon programme.” (Annex, p. 11-12)

Praying for Israel and that the Obama administration will wake up and support our long-time friend as they get ready to defend themselves against those who would like to see them wiped off the map. Israel needs all of our prayers.

Thank you so much for praying! That is the best, first, and last thing we can do for Israel. And in between, we need to use our voices to defend freedom and this beleaguered people in the Middle East. Our own national security depends on a strong Jewish presence in Israel and a strong, secure state among her enemies. This is a long-time friend that we need as much, I think, as she needs us.

May the Lord open the eyes of the many who have been blinded by rhetoric against the state of Israel and His Beloved people, whom He called "the apple of His eye." God has not forgotten them, even in their judgments. Pray for the salvation of Jews and that their land may be healed and made the true land of the Lord God and His Messiah, Jesus Christ. Many (both Arab and Jew) are coming to faith through Him. That is the ultimate solution, that they may all bow the knee to the same God.

The Bible assures us that whoever takes up the cause of Israel and the Jews will be tremendously blessed. This is happening on a personal basis, as I have studied and read about this largely peaceful, brilliant, misunderstood, and outstanding people called the Jews. (You who come and read this post are a blessing to me.) Why, if God called these people to be the means to bless the world, are the Jews historically the most persecuted, reviled, and hated people in the world? It can only be because of their connection as the people of Jesus' birth. Jesus Christ promised that the world would hate His disciples for His name sake.

The failures of the Jews as a people throughout history also picture us. Each time they turned against God, they were scattered and their land became desolate, as all the prophets prophesied. But also, God always faithfully brought back a remnant to faith and to the land, eventually. In our last century, the Jews returned to the land of Israel as a renewed nation, against all odds, after almost two millennia. As pastor and writer David Jeremiah says, "The return of Jews to the land of Israel is the greatest proof of a loving God there is." It is a measure of His grace and blessing. No matter how far we have strayed, His grace does not fail to draw us back.

Please view this beautiful 12-minute video, produced by the http://www.TheLandofIsrael.com:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydwxy9yqhzM&feature=relmfu

This video features actor John Voight as one commentator, along with other Jewish experts. It is an account from the Jewish viewpoint of the amazing, miraculous achievements in the return of God's people to Israel over the past 60 years. Several prophecies are referenced, including:

Deuteronomy 4:27 -- the scattering of Israel, yet survival
Leviticus 26:3, 32 -- hated by the nations
Isaiah 49:6 -- God raising and restoring the "preserved ones" to the land to be a "light to the Gentiles" that they may be "My salvation to the ends of the earth." (As Christians, we believe the fulfillment is ultimately true through the acceptance of Messiah, God's Servant, Jesus Christ.)
Ezekel 36:8-9-- restoration of mountains, valleys, trees, and fruit and the tilling of soil.

This organization has produced several outstanding videos that help us understand an inside view of what is happening in Israel. I have subscribed to receive a list of any new videos.

Another ministry that supports Israel is David Jeremiah, pastor of Shadow Mountain church in California. If you visit http://www.DavidJeremiah.org/TV you can see more about this ministry. I am eager to read his new book, I Never Thought I'd See the Day. He is extremely concerned with what is happening to America and what destruction and disruption will occur since this administration, particularly, has turned its back on Israel. Genesis 12:3 states that God will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse them. One of the best ways America can return to prosperity is to support Israel.

Dr. Jeremiah also reminds us this promise for the future of Israel:

Quote:
And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
"The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
For this is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins." (See Isaiah 27:9)

Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. -Romans 11:26-28 NKJV

"Beloved for the sake of the fathers"--this is the people and nation of Israel. Because of those fathers, to whom God promised His everlasting covenant--Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, the Prophets--God is now blessing the land of Israel with miraculous progress and will bring faith leading to salvation.

I do not intend to offend anyone here who has a different faith view, etc., but this is just too fascinating not to consider. It is amazing that both the Jew and the Christian today see the hand of God in a miraculous way, bringing the Jews back to Israel and restoring an ancient nation and reviving a "dead language" in a modern state.

David Jeremiah reminds us to do several things that I agree are important.

1) Pray for the peace of Israel and Jerusalem so we may also be blessed.

2) Pray for Israel, her leaders, and for our leaders to have the wisdom to be faithful friends of Israel.

3) Pray especially for PM Netanyahu, who has been put in an impossible situation by the American administration. We used to be their best friend, but lately we are acting like their enemy.

4) Pray that God will lead the nation and people of Israel to accept Christ Jesus as Messiah.

I hope many of you can join me in agreement to pray for Israel for spiritual reasons, as well as in supporting her as a necessary ally for the United States of America and the cause of freedom for all.

I am not trying to make Jews out of us all! But I do find their history fascinating, and I find much to praise in their peace-loving conduct.

(I love the archeology! Had I been a boy... I might be digging tels today. )

They are not the ones who attack others, as a general rule, unless their very survival is at stake. (This may happen soon if they feel no one else will take out the Iranian nuclear weapons, which Amahdinejad has promised to use to destroy Jews in Israel.)

Of course, the enemies of the Jewish government in Israel are very sly in attacking the innocent children in nursery schools, unarmed and innocent residents, etc., with rocket attacks from Gaza. And then, when the Israeli forces take out these missile launchers and some of the terrorist leaders responsible, they whine and cry unfair, and the world comes down on Israel. Just the way it is.

But this week the Jews are celebrating their oldest continuous city, Hevron, or Hebron as we spell it in the English Bible. I am glad they still celebrate, even while under the dangers they face daily. What a courageous people!

First mention of Hebron in the land of Judah was in Genesis 13:18. "Now Abram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to the LORD." This is where he moved after his nephew Lot separated and took off to dwell in Sodom. (Please note: this was NOT an Arab city or a Palestinian property, unless you correctly use the historic term Palestine to refer to Jews in the Roman empire, or the British Mandated territory--a term used following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire after WWI. Palestine has been used to refer to an Israeli, Jewish state until a few years ago. Do not confuse the name with Philistines, a people completely destroyed centuries ago.)

Also, did you know that King David, Israel's second king, ruled from Hevron his first seven years as king?

And did you know that Hevron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt, putting it into historical context with other nations? (See Numbers 13:22) Yes, the Bible is very accurate historically.

So, Happy Hebron Sabbath, or Shabbat Hevron to the people of Israel. May the Lord protect your inhabitants and the celebration.

Hevron, a Jewish City From Time Immemorial - and Forever

In honor of "Shabbat Hevron", when Abrahams's purchase of Mearat Hamachpela [Tomb of the Patriarchs] is in the Torah reading, thousands will make their way to the second holiest city in Judaism to spend an uplifting and spiritual Shabbat praying at the Meara and learning about the city. Arutz Sheva brings you the city's history, written by the tireless spokesman of the Jewish Community of Hevron.

Hevron is the first Jewish city in the land of Israel , home of our patriarchs and matriarchs — Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and Sarah, Rebecca and Leah.

King David ruled from Hevron for more than seven years before moving the capital to Jerusalem .

Jews have lived in Hevron almost continuously for thousands of years. At Tel Hevron, commonly known as "Tel Rumeida," artifacts were discovered dating to the era of the Patriarch Abraham. "L'Melech" (King) seals, 2,700 years old, inscribed with the word "Hevron" in ancient Hebrew were uncovered there by archeologists.

Our community offices are in a neighborhood founded in 1540 by Jews exiled from Spain in 1492.

When returned to Hebron in 1967, Jews did not occupy a foreign city; rather, they came back home.

Jewish presence in Hevron came to an abrupt end only in August 1929, when Arab riots led to the murder of 67 Jews and the wounding of 70. All survivors were exiled from the city by the ruling British.

Following the riots, massacre and exile in 1929, a small group of Jews returned to Hevron in 1931. About thirty families lived in the city until just after Passover, 1936, when they were expelled by the British.

Following the 1967 Six-Day War, Jews again had access to the first Jewish city in Israel. It must be clearly understood: when returned to Hevron in 1967, Jews did not occupy a foreign city; rather, they came back home.

In 1968 Jews officially came back to Hevron . The day before Passover in April, 1968 a group of families arrived at the Park Hotel in Hevron . The proprietor rented them half of the kitchen, which they promptly koshered. The women and children slept in the rooms; the men and boys slept in the lobby and on the floor. It was the first Jewish Pesach in Hevron in decades.

Moshe Dayan, then Minister of Defense, arrived in Hevron shortly after Passover. Following several weeks of discussions he offered the group two choices: either be forcibly removed from the city, or go live in the Hevron military compound, several kilometers outside the center of the city. This building, originally a British police station, had been transformed into the Israeli military Headquarters of Judea. It was not overly conducive to a civilian lifestyle.

Dayan must have expected that the young families, including women and babies, would soon throw up their arms in frustration at the poor living conditions and leave of their own accord.

Dayan was partially correct. The group did eventually leave. But first they lived in the military headquarters for two and half years, until the first neighborhood of the newly founded Hevron suburb, Kiryat Arba, was completed.

There was, however, a yearning to return to Hevron , to Beit Hadassah, to the 450 year old Jewish Quarter, home of the ancient Avraham Avinu Shul, to reside adjacent to Ma'arat HaMachpela (burial place of Abraham). Attempts were made, again and again, all leading to failure.

Only in 1979, when Menachem Begin was Prime Minister, did a group of 10 women and 40 children succeed in setting up house in the basement of the old medical center, Beit Hadassah, in the middle of the city. Living in adverse conditions for close to a year, these women and childen became the nucleus of Hevron 's renewed Jewish community.

In 1980, following the murder of six young men outside Beit Hadassah, the Israeli government finally gave official recognition and authorization of Hebron 's Jewish Community.

The present Jewish Community of Hevron numbers more than 1,000 people, including almost 100 families, hundreds of children, and some 250 post-high school yeshiva students studying at Yeshivat Shavei Hevron in Beit Romano. The reason there aren't more people living in Hevron is simply because of lack of space. There are not any apartments available.

That is, perhaps, a misnomer. There are apartments available that we are presently unable to utilize. We have been unjustifiably expelled from 12 apartments that we lived in. Clearly, were there more room in Hevron , there would be many more Jews living in the city.

However, in spite of the small size of the community, according to the statistics received from the IDF and Civil Administration, hundreds of thousands of people visit Hevron annually. Worldwide support, including Jews and gentiles, is overwhelming. Groups from Europe, Scandinavia and even the Far East tour Hevron .

Why do we choose to live in Hevron ? Again, the answer is quite simple. A few years ago, a group of people associated with the New Israel Fund visited Hevron .

Following a short visit on the Jewish side of the city, they crossed the 'border' and met with Hevron 's Arab mayor, Mustepha Natsche. They asked him whether Jews were allowed to pray at Ma'arat HaMachpela, the second holiest site to the Jewish people in the world. His answer greatly surprised them. He said no. "Ma'arat HaMachpela is a mosque, and only Moslems can pray in a Mosque," said Arab Mayor Mustepha Natsche.

This was reiterated by Natsche's deputy, Kamal Dweck. In an interview he also stated that Jews and Christians may not pray in the Tomb of the Patriarchs 'because it is not a church or a synagogue; it is a mosque and only Moslems can worship in a mosque.'

This lie was raised again by the Arab world when Israel put Hevron on its list of Heritage Sites.

The Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs was off-limits to Jews for 700 years. During that time Jews, (as well as Christians), were not allowed inside the 2,000 year old Herodian structure atop the Caves of Machpela. Today we are told by Hevron's Arab Mayor and deputy mayor that should the Palestinian Authority ever regain control all of Hevron , again this holy site will be closed to anyone not Moslem.

There are those who are skeptical. How then, can one explain what happened to Joseph's Tomb in Shechem. According to the Olso Accords this holy site was to remain accessible to Jews. However, following the killing of an Israeli soldier at the tomb, was forced to abandon it. The result was the total destruction of the building which was burned to the ground. And if the Arabs had their way, Kever Rachel would have long ago been turned over to the Palestinian Authority. They claim that her tomb, too, is only a Muslim site.

The only reason that Ma'arat HaMachpela is still accessible to Jews is because there is a permanent Jewish presence in the city. The disappearance of the Jewish Community of Hevron would be tantamount to abandoning our Patriarchs and Matriarchs.

Could any Jew, be they religious or secular, dream of abandoning the Fathers and Mothers of our people?

What is our goal, living in Hevron ? Despite media reports, the goal of Hevron 's Jewish community is not to expel the Arabs living here. Anyone of any race or religion should be able to live in Hevron .

However, we demand that our Arab neighbors accept the fact that the Jews have an eternal, legitimate right to live in the first Jewish city in the land of Israel . This is our goal: living normal lives, just as anyone else, anywhere in .

Our goal is to ensure that our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be able to live in Hevron.

Our goal is to make sure that all Jews will have access to Ma'arat HaMachpela, that Jews will never again be told that this holy site is 'off-limits' because 'you are Jews.'

Others ask: how can you stay in Hevron ? It is so dangerous. How can you risk the lives of your families and children in such a place?

It was May 2001, about eight months after the Oslo War — otherwise known as the second intifada — began. Daily, Hevron 's residents were attacked by terrorist gunmen from the surrounding hills transferred to the control of the Palestinian Authority several years earlier.

At 11 one night I was still in the office, five minutes from our home. Again, the sound of gunfire could be heard from the Abu Sneneh and Harat al-Shech hills The phone on my desk
rang. It was one of my daughters, Aderet, then 16. Breathless, she exclaimed, "Dad, they're shooting again." I answered lackadaisically, "Yeah, I hear it." In other words, "What's new — it's the same, every day."

"But they shot into our apartment. And I was standing there," my daughter cried.

Arriving home, I discovered five holes in a wall opposite the window in the children's room. Aderet and Ruti had been standing not more than three feet from where the bullets hit. Miraculously, they weren't injured.

Today, Aderet is married with two children of her own. And she too lives here in Hevron . Another of my married daughters, with three children, also continues to live in the city. Why not leave, due to the danger?

Jews in Hevron are willing to risk present dangers because acquiescence can only be defined as a reward for terrorism. Arab terror seeks to expel us from our homes, using murder as a means to an end. However, "our homes" include not only those in Hevron but also in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa . New Palestinian textbooks contain maps of "Palestine" that include the entire state of Israel .

Eviction from Hevron, the first Jewish city in Eretz Yisrael, would be tantamount to the removal of Americans from Boston or Philadelphia upon terrorist demands. Except, of course, that American history is less than 250 years old; Jewish history in Hevron is more than 3,700 years old.

Hevron, home of Abraham, is not just the place where Judaism got its start. It is the source of monotheism for all peoples of the world.

Jewish people in and around the world support a strong, vibrant Jewish presence in Hevron . We do not expect any Israeli government to attempt to follow in the footsteps of Arab Nazi Mufti Amin el-Husseini and the British and expel Jews from the city. In any case, we would never abandon our homes.

Besides which, why should the state of be forced to chop off its roots to appease Arab terror? We know the result of eradicating the roots of a tree. God forbid that should happen!

Present Defense Minister and Former Prime Minister Barak once blessed Hevron as follows: "The test of the renewed Hevron Jewish community, which is the same test of the Arab majority, is the ability to develop good neighborly relationships. Mutual honor and a joint effort are necessary to overcome the scars, the pain and the difficult reminders left from the despicable carnage which desecrated this holy city."

Hevron 's Jewish Community could not agree more with this statement. The time has come for our Arab neighbors to stop shooting at us, to stop trying to kill us for no other reason than because we are Jews living in Hevron . Perhaps they believe that by killing us, or by attempting to murder us, they will scare us away. They cannot be further from the truth, because Hevron is the heart of the Jewish people, the life-blood from which the Jewish people derives its sanctity.

This is a simple truth that everyone should not only understand, but also agree with. We truly hope and pray for the day when true peace will prevail, both in Hevron, throughout the land of Israel and all over the entire world.

Final note from our archives: "On the occasion of the thirty second anniversary of the renewal of the Jewish Community of Hevron, I am happy to convey to the entire community blessings of success and shalom. The right of Jews to live tranquilly in the city of the Forefathers securely, protected from all danger, is not disputed." So began Defense Minister and former Prime Minister Ehud Barak's letter of good wishes to The Jewish Community of Hebron on Jerusalem Day 1999. (Ehud Barak is not a part of the Israeli right.)

David Wilder is spokesman for the Jewish community of Hevron. This article appears on the Jewish community's website.

History. It is impossible to understand the Israeli/Arab conflict without the context of history and religion. As the following excerpt from a longer, informative article will show, Jerusalem is the center of any dispute between Jewish and Arab leaders in trying to achieve peace.

The history and faith tradition of the Jewish people shows how powerful, important, and validated are the arguments on their side that Jerusalem is central to their very existence and sense of being Jewish. Not so with the Muslims, who make it appear they have a right of ownership of Jerusalem through occupation, For political purposes they seek to displace and override the Jews by claiming the land for themselves, naming and claiming any site they want as a religious monument or sacred site to Islam. And if they do that, then no Jew or Christian is allowed to visit or worship.

Religion. It is also impossible to understand the problems of peace in the Middle East without considering the religion or faith systems that have such a hold on the people, their traditions, and their claims.

For the people of Israel, this author points to claims that are far more powerful on the Jewish side, judging by the length of their claim, the depth of the sacred hold on their religion, and also the need politically for their capital city to remain Jerusalem for the survival of their people.

Quote:
The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem
by Daniel Pipes
Middle East Quarterly
Fall 2001, pp. 49-66
http://www.meforum.org/490/the-muslim-c ... -jerusalem

The Camp David II summit and the "Aqsa intifada" that followed have confirmed what everyone had long known: Jerusalem is the knottiest issue facing Arab and Israeli negotiators.

In part, the problem is practical: the Palestinians insist that the capital of Israel serve as the capital of their future state too, something Israelis are loathe to accept.

But mostly, the problem is religious: the ancient city has sacred associations for Jews and Muslims alike (and Christians too, of course; but Christians today no longer make an independent political claim to Jerusalem), and both insist on sovereignty over their overlapping sacred areas.

In Jerusalem, theological and historical claims matter; they are the functional equivalent to the deed to the city and have direct operational consequences. Jewish and Muslim connections to the city therefore require evaluation.

Comparing Religious Claims
The Jewish connection to Jerusalem is an ancient and powerful one. Judaism made Jerusalem a holy city over three thousand years ago and through all that time Jews remained steadfast to it.

Jews pray in its direction, mention its name constantly in prayers, close the Passover service with the wistful statement "Next year in Jerusalem," and recall the city in the blessing at the end of each meal.

The destruction of the Temple looms very large in Jewish consciousness; remembrance takes such forms as a special day of mourning, houses left partially unfinished, a woman's makeup or jewelry left incomplete, and a glass smashed during the wedding ceremony.

In addition, Jerusalem has had a prominent historical role, is the only capital of a Jewish state, and is the only city with a Jewish majority during the whole of the past century.

In the words of its current mayor, Jerusalem represents "the purist expression of all that Jews prayed for, dreamed of, cried for, and died for in the two thousand years since the destruction of the Second Temple."(1)

What about Muslims? Where does Jerusalem fit in Islam and Muslim history?
It is not the place to which they pray, is not once mentioned by name in prayers, and it is connected to no mundane events in Muhammad's life.

The city never served as capital of a sovereign Muslim state, and it never became a cultural or scholarly center. Little of political import by Muslims was initiated there.

One comparison makes this point most clearly: Jerusalem appears in the Jewish Bible 669 times and Zion (which usually means Jerusalem, sometimes the Land of Israel) 154 times, or 823 times in all. ...

In contrast, columnist Moshe Kohn notes, Jerusalem and Zion appear as frequently in the Qur'an "as they do in the Hindu Bhagavad-Gita, the Taoist Tao-Te Ching, the Buddhist Dhamapada and the Zoroastrian Zend Avesta"—which is to say, not once.(2)

Why now?
The city being of such evidently minor religious importance, why does it now loom so large for Muslims, to the point that a Muslim Zionism seems to be in the making across the Muslim world?

Why do Palestinian demonstrators take to the streets shouting "We will sacrifice our blood and souls for you, Jerusalem"(3)

and their brethren in Jordan yell "We sacrifice our blood and soul for Al-Aqsa"?(4)

Why does King Fahd of Saudi Arabia call on Muslim states to protect "the holy city [that] belongs to all Muslims across the world"?(5)

Why did two surveys of American Muslims find Jerusalem their most pressing foreign policy issue?(6)

Because of politics. An historical survey shows that the stature of the city, and the emotions surrounding it, inevitably rises for Muslims when Jerusalem has political significance. Conversely, when the utility of Jerusalem expires, so does its status and the passions about it. This pattern first emerged during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad in the early seventh century. Since then, it has been repeated on five occasions: in the late seventh century, in the twelfth century Countercrusade, in the thirteenth century Crusades, during the era of British rule (1917-48), and since Israel took the city in 1967. The consistency that emerges in such a long period provides an important perspective on the current confrontation...

Recently I read that several United States Protestant denominations have come out in favor of a unilateral Palestinian state. Whatever reasons they may chose to believe that the Muslims/Arabs are to be trusted, such articles as the following should concern Christians and Jews who want to preserve the ancient sites in the Holy Land.

The Mount of Olives, where Jesus prayed in Gethsemene, was betrayed by Judas and arrested, has been largely untouched, with trees that are thousands of years old. These ancient trees have been protected by Israeli law. But recently the PLO has been emboldened by world opinion to take what they want and get away with it. The Israeli police seem afraid to uphold the law.

Whenever the Muslims gain control, or, as in this story, where they are not stopped, they will destroy and desecrate both Jewish and Christian holy sites. They will build a mosque nearby or, as on the Temple Mount, atop a Christian or Jewish site. They have no respect for the faith or religion of others. The Mount of Olives is sacred to Christians because it was here that Jesus prayed on the night He was betrayed by Judas, and where the chief priests had Him arrested.

This story reminds me of how the Muslims in New York are building a mosque close to the site of the Twin Towers, regardless of how offensive this is to many families who lost loved ones in the Muslim terrorist attacks on 9-11 ten years ago.

Quote:
Arabs are building an illegal mosque on the Mount of Olives adjacent to the graves of late Prime Minister Menachem Begin and modern Hebrew rejuvenator Eliezer Ben Yehuda.

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/149963#.Tssu7PLuSzY
In an interview with Arutz Sheva, Land of Israel Foundation chairman Aryeh King said the struggle to stop the mosque's construction has yet to bear fruit and that official responses have been filled with platitudes and untruths.

King said in recent days it has been established the area the mosque is being built in is clearly designated as a part of the cemetery itself on land some 200 meters into undisputed Israeli territory.

"The city places the blame on the police and the police lay blame on the municipality – while the criminals are celebrating and we are ashamed to exercise our sovereignty," King said.

Instead, King says he received a letter from an attorney for the Israel police asserting there are no grounds for action against construction at the site because the only work being done is the renovation of the lavatory and moving a sink.

Aerial photographs recently published by King, however, shows construction on land that - until 18 months ago - was occupied by fruit-bearing olive trees. King noted, in addition to the failure to obtain a permit for such work, that the uprooting of trees for the purpose of construction is illegal.

"The Israeli government is allowing it to happen," King said. "The Minister did not lift a finger. We were not able to convince them the importance of place , and thus we failed," King said - emphasizing government inaction came despite the Mosque's close promity to Begin and Ben-Yehuda's graves.

King said, "There is no way to explain this reality except for the fact that the District [Police] Commander is afraid of upsetting the Arabs. There is no other explanation for a document filled with lies.

"Even when he was police chief in the Old City he allowed Arabs to bury their dead in the compound, which is defined as a national park - right in the Old City itself. How can police produce a fallacious document when there are clear violations happening right under their nose - the use of heavy equipment - which can be clearly seen from the Temple Mount?"

King said rabbis he lobbied for support were reluctant to pressure the authorities. King also said Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat had not issued a demolition or stop work order at the Mosque site.

"We need to rouse the public to action," King said.

There seems to be a pattern developing of Israeli leaders being intimidated, afraid to oppose the illegal actions of Arabs who are destroying Jewish property. If our President were really standing behind Israel and not encouraging the takeover of much of Israel by the so-called Palestinians, these things would not happen. Israeli leaders are fearful of offending President Obama, even to the extent of letting unlawful acts and destruction of Jewish property to go unpunished.

Meanwhile, Iran is rattling her missiles with threats of a decisive nuclear attack against Israel. The United States and Israel are reportedly working together to plan a possible military strike against Iran using bunker buster bombs.

Quote:
Iran Begs Israel to Attack and Be Buried
A bluff or a threat? A top Iranian commander begs Israel to attack so Iran can throw the “enemy’ into the “trash can of history.”

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/149969#.TssxgfLuSzY

A top Iranian Guards commander has begged Israel to stage an attack so Iran will be justified to throw the “enemy’ into the “trash can of history.”

Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force Commander Brigadier General Ali Hajizadeh told the Iranian Fars News Agency, "One of our big wishes is that they take this action because it is now a long time that we have piled up a huge potential energy and we are eager to spend it and throw the enemies of Islam and Muslims to the trash can of the history."

His comments are part of a continuing and escalating psychological war of words between Iran and Israel and several American officials.

Iran has continually mocked Israel for allegedly bluffing with threats to attack Iran in order to delay or step the Islamic Republic from manufacturing a nuclear weapon.

Iran’s constant militant verbal response is thought by some to be bluff because of doubts whether it has all of the military power it claims.

Nevertheless, the Guards Politburo chief stated, "If the Zionist regime commits such a mistake [of attacking], it would mean that it has entered the final days of its existence since the Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful and strong country which can defend its territorial integrity and interests across the globe, specially in the Middle-East.”

President Shimon Peres, who almost always appeals for dialogue and not weapons, said earlier this month that an attack on Iran was becoming "increasingly more likely.”

While France has warned Israel not to exercise the “military option,” an increasing number of American officials are reaching the conclusions that it is too late for tougher economic sanctions to stop Iran’s nuclear program.

John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said more than two years ago that Israel should take the initiative and attack Iran because sanctions and diplomatic “engagement” would not work.

This is certainly a matter that needs our prayer, for the protection of the nation of Israel and the peoples of the Middle East and America.

What is the Israeli government doing to counter the threat of the Iranian nuclear bomb that Iran's Ahmadinedjad has promised to use to wipe Israel off the map?

You can be sure that Israel cannot and will not wait on the United States of America or any other nation to save them. Most writers also say that other Arab nations are secretly in favor of someone stopping the Iranian nuclear system development. You can imagine the havoc of any size nuclear weapon being exploded in the area. Jordan is just across the border to the east; Lebanon to the north; Syria to the northeast; and Egypt to the south. Gaza and Arabs living in the West Bank area would be killed as well.

While our President seems to be throwing Israel to the wolves, our military is also obviously involved to some extent in military intelligence and covert operations. I believe President Obama is so invested in his campaign of trying to diminish America as a world power, to appeasing the Arab world, that he will not come out overtly in support of Israel. But he did at least say that America must provide for the "security of Israel," while straddling the "Arab Spring" fence and Palestinian statehood issue, too. A man for all people??? But this type of strategy is undermining world opinion of the United States, endangering Israeli sovereignty, and threatening our own national security.

More on the use of various means to counteract the Iranian nuclear threat, this involves financial sanctions against Iran...
Quote:

Netanyahu calls for stronger sanctions on Iran than those imposed by U.S.

PM says Tehran's nuclear ambitions must be curbed after IAEA report indicated that Iran had worked on designing a nuclear bomb.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/netanyahu-calls-for-stronger-sanctions-on-iran-than-those-imposed-by-u-s-1.397332

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Wednesday for stronger sanctions on Iran than those imposed this week by the United States, Britain and Canada to try to curb its nuclear ambitions.

"Iran is developing nuclear weapons. If anyone had any doubts, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) report certainly dispelled them," Netanyahu told parliament, referring to the UN body's findings on Nov. 8 that suggested Iran had worked on designing a nuclear bomb.

"It is important to impose sanctions, tough sanctions, on this regime - even tougher than those that have been imposed over the past few days," he said, without elaborating on measures he believes should be taken.

On Monday, the United States, Britain and Canada announced new sanctions on Iran's energy and financial sectors, steps analysts said may raise pressure on Tehran but were unlikely to halt its nuclear program.

The United States named Iran as an area of "primary money laundering concern", a step designed to dissuade non-U.S. banks from dealing with it; blacklisted 11 entities suspected of aiding its nuclear programs; and expanded sanctions to target companies that aid its oil and petrochemical industries.

The United States stopped short, however, of targeting Iran's central bank, a step that could have cut it off from the global financial system, sent oil prices skyrocketing and jeopardized U.S. and European economic recovery.

In a coordinated action, Britain ordered all British financial institutions to stop doing business with their Iranian counterparts, including the Iranian central bank.

Canada said it would ban the export of all goods used in Iran's petrochemical, oil and gas industry and "block virtually all transactions with Iran", including with its central bank, with an exception for Iranian-Canadians to send money home.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton telephoned Netanyahu on Monday to brief him on the new sanctions. Like the United States, Israel has said all options, including a military one, are on the table in trying to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear arms.

In a statement issued after his conversation with Clinton, Netanyahu's office quoted him as saying: "Such sanctions make clear to the Iranians the price (they will pay) will be high if they continue to their nuclear program."

Iran says its nuclear program is peaceful and is aimed at generating electricity. Israel has said a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a danger to its existence.

Last week, Defense Minister Ehud Barak called for "lethal sanctions" against Iran, including steps to halt imports of Iranian oil and exports of refined petroleum to the Islamist Republic.

But he said such moves would require the cooperation of the United States, Europe, India, China and Russia, and he did not believe such a coalition could be formed.

Revolution in the Middle East is probably the greatest threat in the world today, even more so than communism. Interestingly, there is a coalition of sorts between Russia and Iran, among various revolutionary movements across the world. The Arab Spring is not just unrest within the various nations of the Middle East. It has been coordinated and encouraged as a "democratic" movement. Unfortunately, it is not democratic in the way we think of democracy and freedom for all. And the strong religious Islamic factor adds all the more strength and passion to these armies that want to ultimately impose Sharia law and a resurgence of the Ottoman empire.

From the Iranian post, Fars, we learn of the schemes of Muslim and Arab leaders to destroy Israel, take Jerusalem (or Quds, as they call it), and to eventually overpower Christianity in the world with an army of 100 million men.

BY FARS—
http://www.thejerusalemconnection.us/blog/2011/11/21/iran-mulling-creation-of-100-million-strong-muslim-basij-army.html

“We will form the 100-million-strong Basij force of the Muslim world to materialize the promise of the late Imam Khomeini about the freedom of the noble Quds,” Naqdi said.

He underlined that Basij will bravely and steadfastly continue its struggle and fight for the freedom of Quds from the occupation of the Zionist regime and to release all mankind from the claws of the world arrogant powers.

[I want us to note, here, the language used by these Muslim leaders, who believe that theirs is a struggle to free not only Jerusalem from Jewish (Zionist) control, but ultimately to "release all mankind" (global conquest) "from the claws of the world arrogant powers" (obviously the United States and Europe.)]

Naqdi’s remarks come against the backdrop the Muslim world’s popular uprisings and revolutions which are similar to what happened in Iran in 1979 under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini.

[My note: The "Muslim world's popular uprisings and revolutions" are viewed by Iran as a way for the teachings of Khomeini to be spread across the Middle East, through the Arab Spring.]

Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February.

Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Libya have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.

While Libya celebrated the victory of its revolution after the death of the country’s dictator, Muammar Qaddafi, in October, uprisings continue in several other Muslim states.

Regional analysts and officials have underlined that Iran’s Islamic Revolution led by the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, is the source of inspiration for the growing tides of Islamic awakening in the region.

Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei had also underscored the profound and vast influence of Iran’s Islamic Revolution on the growing waves of Islamic awakening in the region.

“Thanks to Islam and Islamic Revolution, a popular and overall Islamic awakening has happened in the region today, which will definitely yield its results as it has already yielded (some of) its results in certain points,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in April.

Analysts believe that Iran’s inspiration on these nations means that they share Iran’s goals and ideals and are, thus, willing to joint such a 100-million-strong force.

Friends, the revolutions in the Middle East are NOT a quest for greater freedom for the people. They are part of an "Islamic Revolution," as this article states. And it is very dangerous, all the more so because our President is not clearly opposed to this. He has overtly praised the Arab Spring in the past. And he has put down Israel's Netanyahu and Britain's Queen Elizabeth. Not a good combination for the interests of the US, Israel, and the free world.

Many observers are pointing out the connection between OWS (Occupy Wall Street) movement and the Arab Spring. I find it interesting to see how our American news stories play in other lands, especially Israel. Here is a glimpse. I thought it interesting that the author also points to the tent cities in Israel as being part of this larger anti-democratic movement.

Quote:
Don't Let Obama Off the Hook
by Ron Jager

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/10899#.TtBWbPLuSzY

...The "Occupy" movement has one goal and only one goal; take the heat off Obama, and shift the blame.

In marketing terms, Obama has become a declining brand name.
There is a consensus that many of the "Occupy" demonstrators marching in the protests are being actively supported by the Democratic Party. Two recent examples are by Reps. Raul Grijalva (D-Arid.) and Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) who said in a joint statement. …“We share the anger and frustration of so many Americans who have seen the enormous toll that an unchecked Wall Street has taken on the overwhelming majority of Americans while benefiting the super wealthy,” and House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson (Conn.) who released a statement saying, “The silent masses aren’t so silent anymore. They are fighting to give voice to the struggles that everyday Americans are going through.”

So here we have it, Obama is not to blame they claim, Wall Street is to blame, Obama is a victim of Wall Street, just like us in the "Occupy" movement.

The problem with the Rebranding of Obama will be part and parcel of this campaign as we see the blame being shifted away from Obama. Till now Obama was perceived as a big-government liberal who has expanded regulations, created uncertainty for business and failed to revive the economy, with millions more Americans out of work than when he took office, and an unsteady leader who is unequipped to turn around a country in economic crisis.

Get ready for the new and improved Obama, who will never ask you, are you better off today than you where only four years ago when I was elected ?

Here in Israel we went through a similar period as recently as this past summer with the social protests taking over public parks, in all of Israel's major cities, and holding mass demonstrations. The parks were not only "occupied" but tent cities were established with similar services to what was reported at Zuccotti Park at Wall Street; public kitchens, infirmaries, libraries, and round the clock music and entertainment.

What's in common between our social protects and America's "occupy" movement is not only that they are anti-Democratic in nature, ignoring the will of the voting public, ignoring the rule of law, but they are all funded by umbrella organizations that are connected in one way or another to the Jewish Hungarian billionaire and radical anti-American George Soros, the not so nice Jewish boy from Budapest.

Today more than ever, we must remain united in opposing this dangerous blame game created to letting President Obama off the hook. The buck stops at the White House and its about time that Obama takes responsibility during his watch. We can only hope and pray that the American public will withstand the expected effort to rebrand President Obama.

I am thankful for this forum as a way to keep us up-to-date on what is happening in Israel. As you probably know, Gov. Huckabee is a huge friend of Israel. He is getting ready to take a tour group to Israel this February for his sixteenth visit to the Holy Land. He cares deeply about what is happening to Israel and the Jewish people.

All of us need to realize what is going on in the world regarding Israel and her friends and enemies. Most of us who study Scripture at all have heard how central and vital Israel and the Jews are to the end-of-the-age prophecies. I do not feel qualified to analyze those passages, but the stage is certainly being set for many of them.

The Jewish people and the land of Israel have always faced unusual hatred and opposition for their place in the Savior's lineage and land of His birth and ministry. The Bible gives us insight into the hidden world of spiritual forces of good vs. evil, and we know that Satan is the arch enemy of Jesus Christ. Therefore, he will also seek to destroy the people of Jesus' birth, as well as His followers. We must be aware of the behind-the-scenes schemes of those with evil intent to destroy Jews, Christians, and the land of Israel, especially.

Following is an article on Mohammad Malik and his involvement with various anti-Israel and anti-American activities.

WND Exclusive OCCUPY THIS!
Miami-protest spokesman led 'Nuke Israel' rally
Mohammad Malik was director of CAIR's South Florida chapter

The recent executive director of the controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations' South Florida chapter is a founder and spokesman of Occupy Miami, WND has learned.

Mohammad Malik currently is as an activist with several other Islamic groups.

He has led hate-filled anti-Israel protestsin which participants were filmed wearing Hamas paraphernalia while chanting "Nuke Israel" and "Go back to the oven" – a reference to Jews being killed in the Holocaust.

Malik has been widely quoted in the Florida news media in recent weeks speaking for Occupy Miami.

The Miami Herald identified Malik as one of the organizers of Occupy's Miami's downtown campsite headquarters.

"We've established that we can be here," Malik told the Herald, speaking as one of the first Occupy Miami organizers. "People said we were stupid amateurs who don't know what we're doing. ... But we did it. We've survived and we're growing."

Last week, the Florida Independent reported Miami police had asked Occupy activists to temporarily leave their camp digs.

The Independent quoted Malik, identified as protesting with the group since the beginning, as stating there were "a lot of cops" in the area, but protesters were "trying to figure out the situation so that it doesn't escalate."

The Independent previously quoted Malik as an "unemployed Miami native who has worked with the ACLU and is the current spokesperson for Occupy Miami."

In September 2010, Malik was appointed as the director of CAIR's South Florida chapter, covering the region of Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.

In March 2010, Malik organized a CAIR dinner in Miami. The keynote speaker was Siraj Wahhaj, who was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Wahhaj has also defended the convicted WTC bomb plotters and has urged the Islamic takeover of America.

Malik departed CAIR several months ago. He previously worked for ACLU Florida, coordinating its Racial Justice and Voting Rights Projects.

He did not return email and phone requests for comment.

Nezar Hamze, the current director of CAIR-South Florida, told WND yesterday that Malik departed his Islamic group under friendly terms.

"He left several months ago, maybe almost a year ago," said Hamze. "He got a better position, I think, at the ACLU," he said.

Malik has served as coordinator of several other Islamic groups, such as the South Florida Palestine Solidarity Network, through which he has organized hate-filled protests; the American Muslims for Emergency Relief; and Students for Justice in Palestine.

Malik himself was the principal organizer of numerous anti-Israel rallies. A rally in March was titled "Miami's Third Intifada Rally for Palestine."
During the demonstration, protesters reportedly chanted a slogan often used by Hamas and other Palestinian radicals calling for the destruction of Israel: "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."

A Malik-led rally in December 2008 reportedly drew 200 to 300 rowdy supporters, with some screaming for Jews to "go back to the ovens."

The Florida Sun-Sentinel featured a picture with the caption "Malik incites the crowd."

YouTube video and Internet pictures from the protest depict rally-goers wearing Hamas logos on hats and scarves.

The Florida Jewish Voice newspaper reported Malik's rally began as the Islamic crowd squared off against Israel supporters outside the First Baptist Church in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

One protester reportedly shouted, "Your mother is a wh*re," then broke into, "Nuke, nuke Israel. Nuke, nuke Israel," followed by, "Go to hell; go to hell; go to hell!"

Another woman, wearing a headscarf, shouted: "Go steal other lands. Go! Murderers! Go back to the oven! You need a big oven."

Malik himself was quoted calling Israel's actions ''collective punishment," accusing the Jewish state of "fuel[ing] terrorism."

Wahhaj, brought in to keynote Malik's CAIR dinner last year, repeatedly has urged the U.S. to accept Islamic law. Discover the Networks notes Wahhaj in 1991 predicted America will fall unless it "accepts the Islamic agenda."

The next year, he stated, "Hear what I'm telling you well. The Americans are not your friends. ... The Canadians are not your friends. ... The Europeans are not your friends. Your friend is Allah, the Messenger and those who believe."

Also, in a 1992 address to an audience of Muslims in New Jersey, Wahhaj expressed his desire to replace the U.S. government with an Islamic caliphate.

"If we were united and strong," Wahhaj said, "we'd elect our own emir (leader) and give allegiance to him. ... [T]ake my word, if 6-8 million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us."

In 1995, Wahhaj was named by U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White as an unindicted co-conspirator to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. He objected to that designation, noting in his defense that he had eaten "dinner with Secretary of State [Madeleine] Albright – after the list" of co-conspirators had been released.

Discover the Networks notes that in the summer of 1999, Wahhaj testified as a character witness for convicted terror mastermind Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman. Wahhaj stated, on the record, that he considered it an honor to have had an opportunity to host Abdel-Rahman at his mosque, describing him as a "respected scholar ... bold ... [and] a strong preacher of Islam."[b/]

Islamic connection to Wall Street protest

Malik is not the first CAIR personality to be involved with Occupy.

Earlier this month, CAIR-New York led a prayer service at Occupy Wall Street in conjunction with the Islamic Leadership Council and the Arab-American Association of New York.

The groups are strong supporters of ending Israel's blockade of the Hamas-ruled Gaza, while scores of other organizations tied to Occupy Wall Street, including Code Pink and several unions, took part in flotilla attempts to reach Gaza.

WND reported the communications firm tied to the Occupy Wall Street movement recently spearheaded a major campaign to end Israel's naval blockade of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

Scores of radical groups backing the anti-Wall Street movement also helped to spearhead activism in support of the Gaza Strip, including several attempts to send aid flotillas to the coastal territory's Hamas rulers.

WND broke the story that Fenton Communications helped represent the anti-Wall Street march past millionaires' homes in New York City last month. Fenton works closely with the Tides Center, a George Soros-funded group that donates to thousands of liberal and far-left groups.

Another grantee of Tides is the Adbusters magazine, which is reported to have come up with the Occupy Wall Street idea after Arab Spring protests toppled governments in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia.

Since protests first broke out in Wisconsin in February, organizers, including those behind Occupy Wall Street, have not been shy about likening their cause to the Mideast and North African uprisings.

A tour of the downtown Manhattan square where protesters are holed up, Zuccotti Park, usually finds at least some protesters wearing "Free Gaza" t-shirts or distributing material in support of Gaza.
...
Fenton Communications reportedly developed a communications action plan for an 18-month campaign, known as the Al Fakhoora Project, aimed at delegitimizing Israel's naval blockade while garnering support for the Hamas-led government and the people of the Gaza Strip.Newsmax last year reported Fenton signed contracts worth more than $390,000 with Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, the wife of Qatar's ruler, as well as a separate foundation she chairs.

The contacts were for "developing and managing" the campaign website, "including regularly advising and updating the site with new content," according to the contract documents reviewed by Newsmax.

Al Fakhoora claims it is working to secure "freedom" for Gazan students to "pursue a quality education without the danger of conflict or the torment of occupation."

The main goal of the Fenton-represented Al Fakhoora is to end Israel's naval blockade of Gaza.

Israel maintains the blockade to ensure Hamas cannot rearm itself. The Islamic group has been caught at sea many times attempting to bring weapons into Gaza.

Fenton, meanwhile, is tied to Occupy Wall Street. The movement's march past millionaires' homes was first announced in a press release titled "Community Groups and Progressive Organizations Join Together to Plan 'Millionaires March' with Occupy Wall Street Protestors."

The release detailed how a group calling itself 99 New York was joining the Occupy Wall Street movement as a partner. The 99 organization is a coalition of unions and community organizations, such as United NY, Strong Economy for All Coalition, N.Y. Communities for Change and the Working Families Party.

It was the 99 New York group, which claims to represent the will of 99 percent of the U.S. population, that led to the Occupy Wall Street march on New York streets.

The press release was sent to reporters and was also posted in various Occupy Wall Street-affiliated websites, including StrongForAll.org.

The release listed contact information for 99 New York's spokesmen, Doug Forand of Red Horse Strategies, a firm that has represented scores of Democrat politicians; and Doug Gordon, senior vice president of Fenton Communications.

Gordon's Fenton email was provided on the release. Prior to joining Fenton, Gordon worked for years on Capitol Hill and in Democratic Party politics. He spent seven years as the top aide to Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio.

The official PA (Palestinian Authority) position of leader Abbas is that he recognizes Israel. Yet, he mourns the Balfour Declaration. Many Palestinians still look back to the British declaration at the end of World War I, providing for a land for the Jews in Israel, with great anger and "mourning." Trying to make a home for both Jews and Arabs in one land has been a challenge since then.

A BRIEF HISTORY:
In 1918, at the end of WWI, the Allied forces had defeated the Central Powers as well as the Ottoman Empire. Great Britain retained suzerainty over a portion of the defeated Middle East to administer, to foster the return of a Jewish national home. The traditional land of Israel, as well as the land occupied today by Jordan (former Transjordan) was set apart under a mandate to foster the return of a Jewish national home in Palestine. This area, under the protectorate of Great Britain, was far larger than Israel's current land.

The Balfour Declaration of 1917, a letter sponsored by Lord Balfour and approved by the British cabinet, declared the area of Israel and Jordan to be a Jewish homeland and encouraged return of Jews. Arabs were also promised they would not be removed from their land.

The Palestine Mandate was approved by the League of Nations in September of 1923, "safeguarding the civil and religious rights of all inhabitants of Palestine." The Jews began to return to their homeland under stiff Arab opposition. (Israel was to be Jewish, Lebanon was to be the Christian land, and Syria the Muslim land.) This effort to provide a solution in effect created division of the defeated Muslim Ottoman Empire into religious areas.

The Peel Commission recommended in 1937 a two state solution. Under the British rule, the Jewish return was nearly doomed. They were limited to just 75,000 returnees spread over four years. During these years before official statehood was recognized, Egypt, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia made an alliance with Great Britain that unfavorably limited Jewish return.

In 1936-1939 Arabs revolted in Palestine. Adolf Hitler, German leader, had ties to certain Palestinian anti-Jewish elements, taking some of their ideas on how to rid the world of Jews. During this time Jews were steadily buying up land that the Arabs willingly sold. Israel was considered a "desolate, unproductive land," and the land sales seemed a good deal to Arab landowners at the time. Since those early days,Jewish innovation and hard work have provided means to make the desert bloom and to bring prosperity to the land. This prosperity and the guarantees of personal freedoms that have marked Israeli law and government benefit all citizens, including Muslim, Christian, and Jew of all backgrounds. Many residents of the West Bank area do favor the current status instead of a takeover and Arab rule in Palestine. They have seen how poverty and loss of freedom follow wherever the terrorist groups wrest control. The government of Israel provides stability and opportunity to live under freedom.

Great Britain limited immigration of Jews so sharply during the 1930's and early 1940's, because the White Papers, approved in 1939, permitted fewer Jews to settle in their homeland. Jewish leader David Ben Gurion at the time declared, "We will fight the White Paper as if there is no war, and fight the war as if there is no White Paper." This left many Jews in Europe, available for Hitler and others to mark for extinction as they were gathered in "refugee camps."

Under severest pressure, including that from U.S. President Harry Truman, Britain relented after World War II and allowed 4,500 Jews to return to the land per month.

In 1880, the Jewish population in Israel had been an estimated 25,000. The Arab population was not much greater in those days, and the land was desolate, not considered any prize. In 1919, there were only about 50,000 Jews and about 500,000 others. By 1948, Jewish population in the land was estimated at 700,000. Their population centers were mostly in Jerusalem, (the city where they have always maintained a majority), Safed, Tiberius, and Hevron. Until 1779, Jews also dominated the population in Gaza.

Why is it important for the world to back the Jewish right of statehood? As Gov. Huckabee has pointed out, a look at the map of Israel shows how it is but a tiny sliver in the midst of the Arab countries in the Middle East. This is their only land, their homeland and the land the Bible says God gave them nearly four thousand years ago. They have the greater ancient claim on the land. But due to their small size and number, the people of Israel must have the support of her allies in America and Europe. In addition, America relies upon Israel as a free nation to be our most reliable ally and trade partner in the Middle East.

The history of the persecution of the Jews has often included persecution and attempted genocide, most notably in the late 1930's and 1940's,when nearly 9 million Jews were killed for no other reason than the hatred against them. The reality of the Holocaust opened the eyes of the world and caused a resurgence of Zionism. The Jews as a people needed a land. The Balfour Declaration in 1917 supported giving the Jews a right to live in their homeland, under British mandates and leadership. But it took the Zionist movement after WW II to promote Jewish independence in their own state of Israel.

On May 14, 1948, the United Nations gave official recognition to Israel as a state. US President Truman was leader of the first nation to recognize the independence of Israel as a Jewish state. Later, Resolution 181 of the United Nations recommended the partition of Israel under a two-state solution. The peaceable Jews accepted this; for the most part Arabs have never accepted this solution and refuse to acknowledge Israel's right to exist. They currently refuse also to sit down and talk to come to territorial agreements.

Most Arabs still believe that Israel should be exclusively theirs and should be named Palestine. The latest bid by terrorist leaders at the United Nations is a unilateral declaration that would provide for Palestine to take ownership of Gaza, the "West Bank" of Jordan River, and Jerusalem. The plan that President Obama revealed to Arabs last April would favor this extreme land grab from Israel. It would mean that Israel would be divided from Jerusalem and would retain only a piece of land about 10 miles wide in places and 80 miles long, north to south. This would make Israel indefensible and guarantee destruction of this people.

The more radical the Arab terrorist groups are, the more extreme their plans of takeover are. The Hamas, Hezbollah, and elements of Fatah believe that the land should all be given to Arab rule, under Muslim Sharia law. These extremists want the Jews eliminated, pushed into the Mediterranean Sea and killed. From past experience we know that a Muslim nation of taking over Israel would deny real religious freedom to its citizens, cause the destruction of Jewish and Christian people in the land, and make the land a launching ground for all-out attack on freedom-loving Jews and Christians in the Middle East and across the world. The stated desire of the terrorist groups mentioned above is to create again a Muslim caliphate to take over the world. They still resent the loss of the Ottoman Turk empire ninety years ago. Just as Hitler attempted 75 years ago, some Muslim terrorist leaders are calling for the creation of a Judenrein state--that is, the complete elimination of Jews in the land, by expulsion or the sword.

Palestinian Authority Arabs are ready to curse their ancient brothers, the Jews in Israel as this article illustrates:

Quote:
PA Mourns Support for Jewish Israel as the ‘Cursed Promise’
The PA continues to speak in two languages. Abbas officially says he recognizes Israel but officials mourn the Balfour Declaration.

The Palestinian Authority continues to speak in two languages. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas official says he recognizes Israel but officials mourn the Balfour Declaration of November 2, 1917, in which Britain expressed Britain's support for "the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people."

In its annual condemnation of the Balfour statement, high school girls in Tulkarm located several miles east of Netanya, wrote “letters of sorrow and pain” to Queen Elizabeth, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported.

"The real reasons that caused Balfour to give his dark promise, first and foremost [the desire] to be rid of the Jews in Europe and to award them a prize for the genocidal weapons which they had invented, which helped Britain to annihilate more people," one girl wrote in a letter that appeared in PA media and was translated by PMW.

Another girl wrote to the Queen "that she and her contemporaries are still paying the price of the Balfour promise in blood and tears, because he [Balfour] 'decided to donate a country which was not his to a nation [the Jews] which was not entitled to it, with no justification, since the Palestinian people had not attacked Britain or dreamed of invading London.'"

Fatah member Faiz Abu Aitah told the official Palestinian Authority's daily newspaper that the Balfour Declaration was "the greatest crime that the international community is responsible for."

In its continuing attempt to rewrite history, PA television reported, "Today is the 94th anniversary of the cursed Balfour promise, in which those who had no ownership (Britain) permitted those who had no right (the Jews) to establish a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine."

A PA reported chimed in on cue, “They [the Jews] took the place of the original inhabitants, conquered their land, and turned them into refugees throughout the world. A promise that brings a mark of shame upon humanity because it [humanity] ignored the colonialist frenzy - not only in Palestine but in the Arab homeland, from east to west...

"The promise is not necessarily the right of humans, in contrast to Allah [who has the right] to promise this land, which did and still does belong in its entirety to its Palestinian owners. Balfour will continue to turn in his grave because of the historical injustice which Britain committed against the Palestinian people."

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported, "The promise declared by British Foreign Minister Arthur Balfour, on Nov. 2, 1917, constitutes a great political crime and sin, leading to the uprooting of the Palestinian people and the theft of its land, and causing wars and great conflicts which still continue in the region.'"

Despite the incitement of hatred for the establishment of Israel, the United States this week continues to to convince Israel to make concessions to bring Abbas back to direct talks for the creation of the PA as a country, on land that includes areas that were part of the 1947 Partiton plan drawn by the United Nations.

The United States must again come to the aid of the Jews in Israel. This is our best ally and trade partner in the Middle East. A pro-Israel policy has to be one of the more important requirements for any Republican Presidential candidate. President Obama and his appointees cannot be trusted to protect our important ally if he gains a second term.

Why must Israel attack and take land from those who attack them? Isn't that the prerogative of every nation that is attacked--to defend itself and then punish the aggressor? And yet the U.S. and others in the world expect them to give back the land to the aggressor and meekly lie on their back like a submissive dog in a fight.

Here is what the leader of the Israel Defense Force (IDF) says about the new climate of defense that must become part of Israel's strategy for survival in the very real war on terrorism. (While the U.S. is backing away from calling the conflicts we are experiencing a war on terror, Israel knows they are surrounded by terrorists trying to destroy them completely.)

Quote:
Major General Eyal Eisenberg of the IDF Home Front Command said Thursday that Israel's deterrence is rooted in its ability to conquer foreign territory when attacked.
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/ ... thwGvLuSzY

"A principal pillar of Israel's deterrence is the IDF's maneuverability, and the enemy knowing that the price it will pay for attacking us is losing the land we took defending ourselves," Eisenberg told a security conference attended by regional council heads.

"But [for this deterrence to work] they must not believe the land will simply be returned to them afterwards," he added.

Eisenberg also discussed changes in IDF war-fighting methods and the necessary changes those would require in Israel's civil defense systems.

"In the past, Israel was primarily faced with major military confrontations or operational incidents," he said. "Today, we face a terrorist insurgency and other volatile threats - which expect to succeed by attrition."

"In the new paradigm, the home front is the weakest and most problematic aspect of our national defense," he added.

Eisenberg noted that, since the Second Lebanon War - during which some 4,000 rockets were fired into Israel - the enemy has constantly sought to increase its missile capacity.

"Missiles pointed toward Israel are targeting infrastructure and civilian communities," Eisenberg warned. "And the enemy has achieved greater striking power, range, and precision."

Eisenberg also said the next war Israel fights will focus on protecting critical infrastructure and continuing to provide services that will allow civilians to go about their daily affairs.

He noted five essential pillars needed to maintain readiness for emergencies: ample warning, physical protection, organized local authorities, training and emergency information systems.

"We work closely with local authorities - we identified likely scenarios and prepared plans for protecting our communities. In addition, we are working on a pedagogical multi-layered plan for dealing with emergencies and for protecting children in schools."

"We also set up and operate a network of information centers allowing us to send emergency dispatches and instructions to the civilian population."

Living in Israel means that every day is high alert for dangerous areas. Vigilance must be constant to protect the people and property from those who hate the Jews and desire their destruction. They need our prayers.
