Does anyone know if Kay Bailey Hutchinson is Pro-Life or Pro-Abortion? I have found mixed results on this from my research. She has voted for some abortion restrictions but she also voted for a measure supporting Roe v Wade.

Her voting record says she is Pro Life. The media says she is pro choice.

Yeah, if she is the pick, we need to get this cleared up.

As far as I know, On the Issues is a reliable site.

http://www.ontheissues.org/senate/Kay_Bailey_Hutchison.htm

She is pro-life except for her support of stem cell research.

She also supports Marriage Amendment. :D

So then on the life issue she mirrors McCain? (but is stronger than he is on the marriage question?)

Here is a Senate vote where she supported Roe v. Wade - http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/r ... vote=00048

This article says "She is opposed to outlawing abortion and favors embryonic stem cell research, but voted for the partial-birth abortion ban." - http://www.nationaljournal.com/pubs/alm ... x/txs1.htm

I honestly do not know the answer here. I really would like this clarified. Maybe I should call Texas Right to Life?

That would be great. This is really conflicting. I can understand calling someone who supports embryonic stem cell research yet opposes abortion on all other levels 'pro-life' (though I would strongly differ with them on the ESCR question) - but if she is being called pro-life due to supporting the partial birth abortion ban while saying Roe v. Wade should be upheld - that's just crazy.

I called and talked to Adam Black with Texas Right to Life PAC. He said that Sen. Hutchinson is "middle of the road" of right to life issues. She has supported the Partial Birth Abortion Ban and the Born Alive Infant Protection Act but she has voted to support Roe v. Wade and supports the legal right to an abortion. He said she has not meet the requirements to earn their endorsement.

To me, Sen. Hutchinson is not pro-life and was should oppose her the same as Lieberman, Ridge, and Giuliani.

It seems to me, that if it is so difficult to tell where a candidate stands with regard to life, then they are not standing for life at all; that is, it is not a heart issue to them. I like Huckabee in this regard. We know where he is coming from, and he has been there consistently through his career.
