Trump says the points he covered came from his own heart, evidently not from a speech-writer. Please pray for him these days, as evangelicals and everyone are holding his feet to the fire and examining his beliefs as perhaps no other candidate in our history. That is OK. It causes him to ponder what he believes and what would be best for this nation. It shows he will be held accountable. And the times in which we live call for accountability and strength and toughness of character--rare commodities in the world of politics. The following goals are taken from the above speech to the Faith and Freedom Coalition event:

SOME of TRUMP'S STATED GOALS:
1. Uphold the sanctity of life.
2. Uphold marriage and family as the building blocks of happiness and success. He has learned to respect the "great religious feel" some have [Huckabee?], and he sees that money does not count much in making happy families.
3. Religious freedom needs to be protected. People of faith need to be able to freely practice their faith.
4. We need to bring our divided nation together. No one should be judged by the color of his or her skin.
5. Recognize the importance of church and people being able to work freely in religious circles.
6. Emphasize the importance of values in the foundation of society.
7. Ensure Israel's security.
8. Keep people of faith safe from threats here in America or by standing with Israel.

My favorite: "America needs the mantle of faith."

And there were more...

These sound conservative. Next week, on June 21, a group of over 500 evangelical and social conservative leaders will meet in New York with Donald Trump to discuss how/if they might be able to support his candidacy. Ben Carson is putting this meeting together. Trump will not give a speech; they will make no endorsements.

Yes, Trump is a unique phenomenon, as Mike Huckabee says, a totally new type of movement that is sweeping America and bringing in millions of voters to the Republican Party. Trump says he is energized and not tiring of meeting Americans and inspiring them to make America great. He is giving his all to this goal of saving America. Making money has been sidelined and the business placed in his childrens' hands. He is investing his time fully in this new goal of making America great, spending $55 million of his own money so far. That is freeing when it comes to not having anyone tell him what to say or how to act. No one owns him, and lobbyists and banks and power brokers must be quite frustrated!

It is also disgusting to see how some in the Republican leadership are trying to screw him up, hoping for him to lose against Hillary Clinton, instead of getting behind the chosen candidate of the people. Watching that alone is reason enough to vote for him.

I am losing much respect for Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who is refusing to say he will welcome Donald Trump to Ohio and to the Republican Convention, as governors always do when conventions come to their town. What is this? Without his support, the police are being left with a very inadequate budget to hire just 3,000 policemen and women where they must guard over 50,000 people in what may prove to be one of the most riotous and dangerous conventions in recent history. And it makes it worse to me that he claims to be taking the high road so his children will be proud of him. His duty as a fellow Republican candidate is to support Donald Trump as the nominee, as pledged. His duty as a governor is to make welcome the convention and, as titular head of Ohio Republican politics, to show his support.
