The Republican National Committee’s site-selection committee is expected to name Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday as site of the party’s 2012 convention, top Republicans tell POLITICO.

The site-selection committee is scheduled to announce a choice among three finalists: Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Tampa. The committee has made high-publicity visits to the top prospects, which put on the dog to show what they could do for the GOP.

“It comes down to Florida being a key targeted state in the past several elections, and it’ll continue to be in future elections,” a top GOP operative said. “There’s a practical effect, in that it’ll bring a lot of attention and resources to a targeted state.”

Score One for Huckabee!

Mike Allen of Politico is reporting that the Republican National Committee will select Tampa, Florida as the site for the 2012 Republican National Convention. Tampa beat out Salt Lake City, Utah and Phoenix, Arizona.

Arkansawyers will recall that former governor Mike Huckabee, considered to be a potential candidate for the GOP nomination, moved his residency to Florida earlier this year.

This is great news for Huck, and not so great news for everybody else.

I know envy is a sin. I must confess - I am being very sinful at the moment.

Glad you get to go though. :D

Jason Tolbert on the Tolbert Report:

Quote:
According to Politico, the Republican National Committee will announce today that they have selected Tampa, Florida as the site of the 2012 Republican National Convention. The choice came down to Tampa, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix. But it looks like the sunshine state will win out as Republicans go after its 27 electoral votes.

So this will work out nicely for Florida’s newest resident Mike Huckabee who can commute to the convention. Perhaps he will car pool with Marco Rubio

Yes, it appears that way often. But, I think Mike must even be shocked sometimes at how things seem to be falling into place. God is in control.

I agree with both of you. And I keep praying that God will lead Huckabee in all he does and says so he will be prepared to help move our nation in the right direction...as our President, Lord-willing. :)
