Georgia
GA has decided to add some flexibility into its ability to change their primary date. Essential giving the secretary of state the power to set the date no sooner than 60 days prior to the determined primary date so that the primary is as soon as January 30th or as late as the second Tuesday in June. There is probably no coincidence in its earliest possible date being 1 day before FL's currently scheduled date of Jan. 31st. Looks like Ga wants to keep its prominence in the early part of the calenders but doesn't want to show thier hand in the process and give states the opportunity to leap frog them.

I am not a conspiracy person, but my mind has been wondering on the subject of the the primaries for 2012. Utah and Minnesota seem to have some issues with moving thier primary date. Both are schedule to occur on Feb. 7th, but details in each of thier election law now inhibits them from changing the date. So now there are 3 states that I know of thate have issues with moving the date, FL, UT, and MN. Ga is another state that has framed its law so that changes can be made quickly within a time frame that is favorable to them.

Since the early states are important to each candidate and set the stage for the rest of the primaries, it would be advantageous if a candidate could encourage election law in a state that favors them in a way that would be helpful to ones pursuits, such as UT for Romney, MN for Pawlenty, GA for Gingrich and Huckabee, and FL for Huckabee and Romney. Each of these candidates when be looked apon favorably if they could win early in the process and each of these states seems to have some controversy in their election law.
