On FOX news, Gov. Mike Huckabee says that a brokered convention would look like a "train wreck." He says that while it would be interesting and "entertaining" to watch, it would make a lot of people mad.

It's just too inconsistent with our expectations. We expect transparency, one person-one vote, winner takes all, and democracy.

A brokered convention is the death of those things. So I agree that a lot of people would be mad.

Interesting that Huckabee was hoping for a brokered convention in '08 but now says it would be a train wreck in '12.

Personally, I think a brokered convention is what is needed to get the GOP motivated and excited to beat Obama in November.

The only defense of his comments that I see is in the second video he mentions that it's not the length of the process that is hurting the party, it's the nature of it. If he and McCain kept going longer into 2008 I'm sure they wouldn't be going at it like the candidates now.

Yes, but really, where is all the slime and vitriol coming from Huck?

No, I agree with what Santorum said in this interview that I posted in another clip:

Drawn out actually works in the GOP's favor this time because as soon as we have nominee, the media & the Dems are going to bring ALL their guns to bear on whoever it is and do their best to decimate him. They won't have as much time to pound on the nominee if it's not decided till then.

Now how much rancor there will be going forward has a lot to do with how the GOP decides to handle it, particularly if it goes all the way to the convention, but so far Romney has so blatantly cheated & offended SO many of those he needs in November that I'm pretty sure things can't get significantly worse than they already are now...

The biggest concern is whether or not they would be able to keep it from looking like the anarchic areas of the Missouri caucus. That mess gave new meaning to "disinfranchised voters" and there are a lot of very angry people. The GOP can't afford that kind of damage when there is so much already due to the Romney campaign's slash & burn tactics.
