GrannyT let me know that she is no longer able to edit her own posts. She says has this has been the case for about a week now. I have tried checking user permissions, group permissions, forum permissions, etc... but no luck so far. Any other admins with ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it?

The weird thing is that for a little while after a post is made, the Edit button remains at the bottom of the post for the user but then it goes away. I don't know if it is a matter of time or something else that is causing this.

Very odd. I know that an updated version of our forum is available. The update to the next version can be loaded in the admin control panel area. This may fix the problem. What do you think?

Yeah, that thought occurred to me too and I had noticed that there was another version of phpBB available. Do you know if this affects users when it is updated to the another version? I assume it would, but just getting familiar with phpBB in the last month or so.

Is GrannyT the only one reporting the issue?

I got the sense that she had heard others had the same problem - I could check. I did register a new member name, eneikirk, to test it out and I saw the same issue with that member name.

Here is what my research came up with. Its hard to follow where the issue might be but there are several threads that speak to this exact issue over at the PHPBB support forums. Someone will have to take the time to sift through this information and find the one thing that might be triggering it on the board. Seems like it would have been initiated by an install recently to PHPBB here. Not sure if anyone has installed something on here or changed something other than basic stuff recently but if you read through these threads it should provide some direction:

Yes, a certain amount of time lapses it seems, and then we can't edit or delete our posts. We should be able to do that as long as we want, shouldn't we? Or at least make it an available option for a longer period of time.

Actually, no need to research. Ken - view the attached file of a screen shot in ACP. Under the "General" tab then "Post settings" look towards the bottom and you will see where it is set to limiting edits to "10" minutes. This should and has been set to "0" in the past so that regular users can always edit posts. Even if it is set to "o" it will still show that people have edited posts but will allow them at least to do so.
