Since I am relatively new to moderating, I just wanted to call this to attention to see if this is OK or not?

Hmmm....I'd like an admin to weigh in on this, please. I know we've had to be careful in the past when people were trying to raise funds for certain business purposes which is prohibited in the rules here:

Quote:
10. No personal business solicitation

The purpose of this board is to support Mike Huckabee and the issues he stands for. Though the initiative may be exemplary, we don't want to divert our attention here to other efforts outside that scope, and we want to avoid being associated with money making efforts that may not reflect well on Huck's Army, Mike Huckabee, and the issues we support.

However, this MAY be different, but it could set a bad precedent as far as everyone coming forward to ask for money (and even some people being tempted to be disingenuous about the reason behind it). I'm therefore somewhat disinclined to go for it, but I don't want to completely discourage the guy. Other thoughts????

First of all, I think the topic should be in the Community Center forum rather than where it is now - Huck's Army Projects, since it is not truly a HA project. Second, I agree that we don't want to discourage him but do want to make sure that we are not setting a precedent for others to solicit funds.

I think it would be appropriate for David to add a response to his topic, so I will send David a PM to ask him to weigh in. In the meantime, I will move the topic to the Community Center forum.

I don't mind. I don't think people should sell stuff but if people want to help each other around helping them mature in their conservatism, I don't mind.

Didn't we allow some fundraising for BDBopper some time ago? Or is my memory incorrect?

I think you're correct there...I had forgotten about that.
