To add an image or smilie (aka emotion) that is not installed on this forum, you need to have a URL (web page address; URL = Uniform Resource Locator, FYI). Click on the "Img" button above the text box for your post and then paste the url, so that it looks something like this:

"[ img ]http://www.smilieland.com/graphics/sick.gif[ /img ]"

and gives you something like this:

Image

Here are a couple of sites that contains many smilies:
http://www.smilieland.com
http://www.websmileys.com/

There are also other sites with smilies that you can find.

If you want to add an image that is on your computer and not the internet, you can sue the Upload Attachment feature below the text box. You scroll down, click the Browse button across from the Filename field, locate the file on your computer, and click OK. Then click on the Add the file button next to the File Comment field (add a comment is you wish). A new window will pop up while the file is uploaded and then you will see the file attached in your post.

You can click the Preview to see what it looks like and when you are ready to submit your post, click Submit.

Help! Does anyone know how to make an image smaller before you post it? I have a banner that a friend sent us in an email, and wanted to share it with you all. In the email it was small, but when I saved it to my computer and then attached it as Ken describes above, it's huge. Can anyone advise? I'm leaving town this afternoon, and wanted to post it before I leave.

Mary

In the opening [img] do this [img=200x100]. I'm pretty sure the values are in pixels. You'll have to play around with it a bit to get the best dimensions.

Hey jdbrown - thanks for answering. I'm not sure I follow your instructions; this is what I did:

First I attached the jpg file per Ken's instructions above (attaching from my computer, not from another url). Once it was uploaded, I put it into the body of my post by pressing the "place inline" button in the attachments box beside the filename.

It appeared in the body of the text like this:
[attachment=0]Sarah Palin Revolution Lipstick.jpg[/attachment]

I tried to follow your instructions by adding the like this:
[attachment=0][img=200x100]Sarah Palin Revolution Lipstick.jpg[/img][/attachment]

but it didn't change anything.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to change the file somehow on my computer before it's attached?

The [img] tag expects an URL as the source. If you are going to use the [attachment] tag, you will need to adjust the size of your image before uploading it to HucksArmy. Just use your favorite image editing program to shrink the image.

Hope this helps.
