This is a website that was around from the last election but it has a lot of things we need to remember about Mitt Romney.

Youtube video in Mitt's own voice:

That video is hilarious to watch that I'm embedding it below. His debating style hasn't changed one bit since 1994. Thanks for posting it!

Love the part when Kennedy responds to the abortion question with "I am pro-choice, my opponent (Romney) is multiple choice..."

I've seen this before, but forgot how good it is - parts of it should be made into a commercial. Do you have a link?

I agree, Ted Kennedy's line was a great one. The commercial could start out with "Mitt Romney, past and present", then Ted's line, then clips of Romney from then and now saying the opposite views.

Thanks for embedding it to make it easier for people to watch. Yeah, I think people forget that Romney was running to the LEFT of Ted Kennedy! That is saying a LOT.

I still can't figure out why any conservative Republican with any conviction can support Romney. scratch

I can see the battle between Gingrich and Santorum for our hearts but Romney?? :barf

Another thing I can not understand about Romney:

It seems he has led a personal life in which a nuclear family has flourished. In order to do that you have to be full of conviction and and have plenty of self discipline.

But in his political life he has said and done just about anythng to try and get elected. No conviction and no self-discipline (even though the talking bobbleheads will tell you he is the most organized and discplined candidate they have ever seen  ) He and his surrogates will attack fellow Republicans at a personal level.

Why is there such a contradiction of the 2 lives? I guess everyone is flawed but this has me so puzzled.

It reminds me of Obama. :tinfoil

The ones I know use four arguments in this order:

1.) He can win November and "beat Obama" and that is paramount over any other consideration.
2.) He has the skill set to address the most critical issue (the economy)
3.) He has changed and we should believe him
4.) He is the best family man (if you are down to just a couple of choices)

Only the last has any resonance with me personally and, while it can and will be disputed, it does reflect an effort to maintain conviction.

I frankly don't think the list is at all different from the arguments generally put forward in most recent cycles in defense of any candidate choice by "conviction conservatives."

Normally though, as long as you can accept number "1" on the list, then the remainder actually don't matter too much for any candidate. That's why he's most at risk right now of seeing his support evapporate. Conservatives are so hungry to win that they are willing to swallow more than ever this round. That will also be the biggest threat to Santorum and Newt. If either is seen as "unelectable" the remaining arguments don't matter near as much.

Another good website on Mitt Romney that has been chronicled for many years. I saved it from the last election cycle.

Mitt is invested in Freddie and Fannie and makes thousands yearly since 2007. What nerve the man has to be going after Newt.
It is in his disclosure:

Teddy Kennedy used to be pro life. I'm not sure how relevant it is to the thread, but it's still an interesting point to me. Ted in 1971, "While the deep concern of a woman bearing an unwanted child merits consideration and sympathy, it is my personal feeling that the legalization of abortion on demand is not in accordance with the value which our civilization places on human life. Wanted or unwanted, I believe that human life, even at its earliest stages, has certain right which must be recognized - the right to be born, the right to love, the right to grow old.
On the question of the individual's freedom of choice there are easily available birth control methods and information which women may employ to prevent or postpone pregnancy. But once life has begun, no matter at what stage of growth, it is my belief that termination should not be decided merely by desire."

If your family is old time democrat, then your family used to be pro life (Kennedys). If your family is old time Republican, then your family probably used to be pro choice (Romneys).

Incredible. What wouldn't he say in order to get elected?

If Mitt's poll watchers and data crunchers were to discover that the key to the Election of 2012 is to win the hearts of voters in inner city Oakland, I would fully expect Mitt to grow an afro and become a black panther.

If you want to hear Ann Coulter flipping out because her guy Romney is not doing well (I almost feel sorry for her... but not really):

Actually the only thing I want to hear from Ann Coulter is that she is quitting oped journalism to become a cloistered, discalced Carmelite and will spend the rest of her life doing severe penance to atone for her sins. (Okay, I'll confess that I stole that line from Fr. Benedict Groeschel talking about pop singer Madonna, but it was too good not to recycle!)

I don't have any other response for that but this one: :floor
