I couldn't believe that the opening argument from this "big time Romney supporter" was that NEWT "sucks up to whatever the audience wants to hear". If she has a beef with consistency, then what on earth is she doing supporting Romney???

I have loved the exquisite irony of Anne Coulter arguing that conservatives are foolish to follow someone just because they are best at saying things that are snarky rather than backing a more temperate candidate who can win by winning those you need.

Even though I agree with her point, she has no personal credibility as the premier snark of the age to make it and will rightly be laughed at by those she is trying to persuade.

Now the notion that an argument can be totally discounted because of who carries it is also something I subscribe to so I wish she would shut up as the net result of her saying this is to strengthen the support of Newt.

Mike Reagan, Rush Limbaugh Blast RomneyThursday, 26 Jan 2012 03:02 PM

By Jim Meyers

Ronald Reagan’s eldest son Mike Reagan has issued a statement lambasting Mitt Romney and his supporters for claims that Romney’s Republican presidential rival Newt Gingrich was a strong critic of President Reagan.

Reagan says such claims are false.

Even Rush Limbaugh, shocked by the Romney claims, chimed on his Thursday radio broadcast to say "This is obviously a coordinated attack to take Newt out here in Florida."

Rush slammed the Romney-backed smear campaign against Newt.

“That kind of stuff is why people hate Romney so much," Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh added that Newt has always been a conservative from his early days in national talk radio in the 1980s.

“He was perhaps the premier defender of Ronald Reagan,” Limbaugh said.

On Thursday, Mike Reagan, a respected conservative commentator, responded to the Gingrich critics with this statement to Newsmax:

“I am deeply disturbed that supporters of Mitt Romney are claiming that Newt Gingrich is not a true Reaganite and are even claiming that Newt was a strong critic of my father.

“Recently I endorsed Newt Gingrich for president because I believe that Newt is the only Republican candidate who has both consistently backed the conservative policies that my father championed and the only Republican that will continue to implement his vision.

“It surprises me that Mitt Romney and his supporters would raise this issue — when Mitt by his own admission voted for Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale who opposed my father, and later supported liberal Democrat Paul Tsongas for president.

“As governor of Massachusetts, Romney’s achievement was the most socialistic healthcare plan in the nation up until that time.

“Say what you want about Newt Gingrich but when he was Speaker of the House he surrounded himself with Reagan conservatives and implemented a Ronald Reagan program of low taxes and restrained federal spending.

“Newt’s conservative program created a huge economic boom and balanced the budget for the first time in more than a generation.”

Mike Reagan concluded: “I would take Newt Gingrich’s record any day over Mitt Romney’s.”

And Nancy Reagan, Reagan’s wife, has stressed Gingrich’s close relationship with her late husband.

In a 1995 speech at a dinner honoring Ronald Reagan, Nancy said: “The dramatic movement of 1995 is an outgrowth of a much earlier crusade that goes back half a century. Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.”

I heard Romney on Sean Hannity's show today. He said he planned to cut 500 billion dollars from the federal budget in the first 4 years. That's probably about 125 billion per year. Considering the deficit is 1,500 billion annually, that's NOTHING! No way I could support Romney in a primary.

I think this video that the Ron Paul camp put together really exposes Mitt Romney when it comes to the issues:

Let's try to keep the double-posting to a minimum. You already posted this video here:

viewtopic.php?f=181&t=26295

And I wouldn't worry if I were you, I haven't seen or heard from a Mitt supporter here in a loooooooooooooooooong time. I actually can't remember the last time we had a Mitt supporter here. Am I overlooking someone? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I feel pretty safe in saying that we all are in perfect harmony with regard to our unified disdain for Mitt's politics.

Mitt's next transformation: to go after Florida's biker vote, Mitt will don a leather jacket (over the starched shirt and monogrammed cuff links), slick back his hair and get on a Harley. In a carefully prepared exclamation he will yell out "freedom, boys!" ...

I found the ultimate website/resource for opposition Romney research and copied it on my desktop. Thought others here might appreciate having this encyclopedia on Romney.

You might take a look at the chapter on Abortion, how Romney has supported abortion through the years, and the supposed conversion to a prolife stance in 2007, so he could run for President as a conservative Republican.

I had forgetten about this file but think it is ironic that it was John McCain's opposition file on Mitt Romney in 2008. Thanks for posting it!

I thought that this video was also relevant to the title of this thread as far as exposing Mitt Romney so I thought I'd add it to the list here too.

For those of you who haven't seen it, here is a new documentary from the makers of "When Mitt Romney Came To Town" about Romney being linked to Medicare fraud.

BLOOD MONEY: Romney's Medicare Scandal

Please pass this on to everyone you know.

You already have this up as an independent thread. Please do avoid double posting which is against our site guidelines as Chris indicated earlier. If you think the information goes better in a "clearing house" thread like this then I'd suggest you post it here rather than in its own free-standing independent thread. Either is fine.

This should make any person's stomach churn listening to Romney talk about his position on abortion back in 2002:

This article offers some interesting connections of the money trail of Bain Capital, Romney's campaign contributions, etc. in Florida, especially attacking Newt Gingrich. He spent anywhere from $13-18 million in negative campaign ads (92% were negative) and other expenses.

http://www.newstalkflorida.com/are-repu ... omination/

Noticed this  comment at the end of the article:
Quote:
Oh, and for those that still believe that Romney should be the President because of his economic prowess, you may want to take a look at how Clear Channel is doing since Bain came into the picture. After laying off over two thousand workers, analysts are predicting that they will file for bankruptcy by 2014.

Gov. Huckabee was also the focus of attacks using Bain Capital money, so he would understand.

Truly, truly amazing.

Folks, this was less than ten years ago. This was taped on October 29th, 2002 (http://www.c-spanarchives.org/program/ID/149365&start=1265&end=1311). President Obama hadn't even formally declared his candidacy for the U.S. Senate when Mitt spoke these words. This was very recent.

Then on July 26th, 2005, Governor Romney wrote an op-ed in the Boston Globe proclaiming himself to be pro-life (http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2005/07/26/why_i_vetoed_contraception_bill/). This wasn't even three years after he made this speech.

Mitt has stated that his views on abortion changed on November 9th, 2004 - coincidentally, one week after Election Day, after talking with a Harvard researcher about stem-cell research.

But I can't for the life of me understand how it's possible to swing from one position to a radically different position - and occasionally back and forth - in such a short time period.

I do not personally understand how it is possible to be pro-life and to support him.
