A special interest group (mostly seems to be opposed to Christie) released the results of this poll taken 9/10-9/11 - 502 registered voters. JCN

Quote:
...The Judicial Crisis Network, just commissioned a survey of likely 2016 Republican primary voters in South Carolina to see what they think about Christie and other potential candidates.

The initial ballot test showed:

Mike Huckabee 14 percent

Ben Carson 14 percent

Rick Perry 9 percent

Jeb Bush 9 percent

Chris Christie 8 percent

Rand Paul 7 percent

Paul Ryan 6 percent

Ted Cruz 5 percent

Marco Rubio 5 percent

Scott Walker 3 percent

Quote:
If the Republican primary election for United States President were held today and your top choice doesn't
run, who would be your second choice if the candidates were…

2. Ben Carson 10%
3. Rand Paul 9%
7. Jeb Bush 9%
1. Chris Christie 8%
5. Rick Perry 8%
6. Mike Huckabee 8%
9. Marco Rubio 8%
8. Ted Cruz 4%
10. Scott Walker 4%
11. Bobby Jindal 4%
4. Paul Ryan 3%
12. Rick Santorum 2%
13. Someone else (specify) DNR 4%

Very good! I am surprised that Dr. Ben Carson continues to poll so well. His political experience is nil, although he is an accomplished surgeon and godly man with great principles for America.

Something about the way he is being pushed doesn't ring true to me. I think he recently said he was likely to run. He came in 3rd for the CPAC 2014 straw poll - which means he had organization and money that went into that effort. Let's see if he can make it past the Iowa straw poll.

At our state Republican Convention I know some of the Young Republicans were trying to get people to draft Dr. Carson for President. I think his book has been fairly popular, although I have not read it. He is a patriotic and godly man, but not Presidential material yet.

The Republican booth at our town fair tried to get me to sign a petition too.

I live in SC, and any poll in SC between now and November is virtually meaningless. What happens in Iowa has a major impact on the SC primary.

As far as Carson, I think right now he is more of an "idea" than a candidate. People like his story, and they like how he stood up to Obama at that prayer breakfast. He's a good man, but when he speaks he doesn't come across with a lot of fire and outward passion. He has a lot of inward conviction which makes him a good man, but he doesn't seem to have the fire to make him a good candidate.

Exactly. When Carson doesn't perform well, where are those 10% going to go?

I believe they're called "low-information voters." Their thought process goes something like this, "Oh, wow! George Bush is running again?! He was way better than Obama! I'm voting for him!"

You left out:

"I hear he's going to have the most money, so he must be the most electible candidate!"

AND

"Karl Rove gave his objective analysis that he was the candidate to watch and the most conservative option in the field."

AND

"What does it matter, with Romney out we can't win anyway."

Not to mention:

"I heard Dick Morris predicted Bush is gonna WIPE THE FLOOR with Clinton, so it must be a sure thing! In fact, Morris is so good, he predicted it all the way back in 1992!!!"

This one was before Rubio's announcement. Can't believe Graham has more support than MH.

#snapshot ~700LV, 1/15

Carson still has a few voters to shed. Huckabee majors in miracles (I subscribe to that view.) Will "nasty Cruz" be able to crack down his 2015-buddy Trump?

Trump 32
Cruz 18
Bush 13
Rubio 11
Carson 9
Christie 4
Kasich 3
Fiorina 3
Huckabee 2
Paul 2
Santorum 1
