A new CNN poll of Iowa has Huck at 7 percent, right in the mix with all the big names, save for Trump who is way ahead. The Trump hot-air ballon will crash sooner or later (his comments on Planned Non-Parenthood will hurt him).

Here's the numbers:

Trump 22
Carson 14
Walker 9
Cruz 8
Huckabee 7
Fiorina 7
Bush 5
Rubio 5
Paul 5
Kasich 2
Jindal 2
Perry 1
Christie 3
Santorum 1
Graham 2

The best news to me is the Walker-dip, who has been consistently on to in Iowa since February! Now only third.

The new DMR-numbers, which are probably pretty accurate at this point. Huck is not the flavor of the moment, but I think he'll yet catch on.

Trump 23
Carson 18
Walker 8
Cruz 8
Fiorina 5
Bush 6
Rubio 6
Huckabee 4
Paul 4
Kasich 2
Christie 2
Jindal 2
Perry 1
Santorum 1

Iowa is known for putting underdogs over the top in their caucuses, Carson may be the next one. Still a long way to go before anyone casts a vote though.

I don't know what the media is like in Iowa, but it seems Huckabee's just not getting any coverage. I have to search for stories about the campaign. Nobody on talk radio mentions anybody other than Trump, Carson, and Cruz...and Fiorina for a while.. i guess they were distracted by a flash in the pan.

I think that poll is bunk. No way Huck is only at 2% in Iowa but higher in national polls.

So, it is probably a good thing for Carson to peak now in Iowa, because likely he will fade somewhat again (hopefully). Who will be the next one to rise? Cruz?

Des Moines Register Poll:
Carson 28
Trump 19
Rubio 9
Cruz 10
Bush 5
Fiorina 4
Paul 5
Jindal 2
Huckabee 3
Kasich 2
Christie 1
Santorum 2
Graham 0

PPP polls are usually ok for Huckabee. Ted Cruz is close to his first lead in Iowa.

Trump 22
Carson 21
Cruz 14
Rubio 10
Huckabee 6
Jindal 6
Bush 5
Fiorina 5
Paul 2
Kasich 2
Christie 3

Carson is past his prime...so far Huckabee is not the one to profit...

Rather Cruz is on track to battle it our for first place with Trump. I wonder if in order to claim first place he would be ready to actually start attacking Trump? If both would be damaged by that?

And if there then is still time for Huckabee to climb in the polls, after everybody else has had his and her chance?

Trump - 30%
Cruz - 21%
Carson - 19%
Rubio - 11%
Bush - 5%
...
Huckabee - 1%

It did hurt to have Huckabee on the undercard stage, it seems. Cruz was probably the most conservative on the prime time stage at the debate, which no doubt helped him. Praying for ways for Gov. Huckabee to gain some notice and time on prime time.-- Just can't understand the Trump phenomena. Years ago a casino operator/billionaire would never be the favorite of evangelicals or conservatives. Strange election! Do not lose heart. There is no one to compare to the governing ability of Mike Huckabee. It is unfortunate that the anti-Washington sentiment is affecting governors, who have never been part of D.C. Yet the senators have been.

Within a month or so, Carson has become a non-factor in Iowa, it seems.

All seems to be going right for Cruz...but just wait for that one unforeseen stumble or event that changes the course of things for him.... (sorry for uttering such thoughts :? :D :tinfoil    )

Huckabee not being on the main stage has hurt, but it also gave him some great quotable quotes and video for his campaign to use. He clearly won that debate (except in the eyes of John McCain and others who liked Linsay Graham.) What is hard to understand is Dr. Dobson, Tony Perkins, Bob VanderPlaats, etc. using their considerable influence in the evangelical arena to not only endorse, but almost force other evangelicals to coalesce support for so inexperienced a man as Sen. Ted Cruz. And one, who I believe is at least somewhat disingenuous about his father loving America as an immigrant (though he became a Canadian citizen), and quietly hiding the fact that he also had Canadian/American dual citizenship. I want someone who is 100% American, and I believe that is what the Constitution says. Yes, Cruz can talk long and he can debate, but there is little else for him to show in experience governing. No great bills passed. No working together with other senators to pass good legislation. No ability to stop big government spending. So, unlike Gingrich who was able to get the House Republicans together to sign their Contract with America, our Senate Republicans as well as our House Republicans have been extremely disappointing in bringing any change to Washington D. C. Contrast that with the tremendous change Gov. Huckabee has made for Arkansas in a short 10 1/2 years. It would be interesting to learn how many votes Cruz has missed now, while campaigning. I just don't see that it is right for either he or Sen. Rubio to continue in the Senate while campaigning. This should be unlawful, but of course these men make their own laws to operate under, including their own health care plans, etc., their raises, etc.

I still think Carson's numbers are inflated. And I'm surprised that Paul is surging.

This is an interesting link, comparing polling numbers from the last two Iowa Caucuses to the current numbers, the same amount of days from caucus day.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/compare/iowa_republican_presidential_caucus_2016_2012_2008.html

At this point (17 days out), Santorum in 6th of 7th place, at 7%, Gingrich was still in the lead.

For Huckabee's sake, I hope that the recent negative stories about Cruz and the turmoil within the Carson campaign will make themselves known in the poll numbers.
