Post subject:  Huckabee to speak at Republican National Convention

According to Mike's latest Facebook status, Romney has invited him to speak at the Republican National Convention. Here's what Mike said:

Quote:
I'm honored to be invited by Governor Romney to address my fellow Republicans at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, but especially grateful for the opportunity to explain to my fellow Americans why this election provides the most stark contrast of political platforms in American history. Four years ago, many Americans were willing to give an untested and largely unknown candidate their
hope. Barack Obama made wonderful speeches and promised a government that would be dramatically different. That turned out to be an understatement. We were promised transparency but we have been a government cloaked in secrecy , Executive Privilege, and hidden agendas. We were promised a government that would operate in a bi-partisan manner to solve problems, but have been given a government that has been led by the most divisive and partisan President in modern memory. We were promised economic recovery and the creation of millions of jobs, but have now seen the longest period of record unemployment since the Great Depression. We were promised that we'd have the respect of the nations of the world, but the nations posing the greatest threat to our security like Iran, have shown no regard for the political speeches that have substituted for sound and stellar policy. We were promised that we would make major reforms in our tax code and even watched an esteemed Commission of thoughtful people create a blueprint for addressing the staggering debt, but Barack Obama appointed the Commission, allowed it to do its work, and promptly ignored its every recommendation. He campaigned with the clarity that he would respect the sacred institution of marriage and claimed it was his own belief, but then became the first President in history to support changing the nature and definition of marriage. And he promised that his faith would guide him, but instead he has launched a full frontal assault on the conscience and convictions of religious liberty by insisting that his government run health system include forcing churches, colleges, hospitals, and businesses to bow their knee to the Baal of the federal government. Electing Mitt Romney is our opportunity to restore the function and scope of our government to its Constitutional origins. I will do all I can to help Mitt Romney become our President.

Yes, and now I see it. Thanks! I don't know why I couldn't see it before. Earlier the latest post I could see was the one about this weekend's show.

I wish he would have been picked as VP but Romney's advisers obviously aren't smart enough to see how much Huckabee could help energize the grassroots part of the Party.

That is because the Republican Party doesn't realize that social issues are actually the root of every problem. In particular the LIFE issues... if we don't value life, then why would we have a problem taking life via abortion, shooting people, stealing/being dishonest w/ economics, etc.

The core of every issue is whether or not people value life, both spiritual and physical.

Somehow the Republicans don't get it.... :wall

However, since my beliefs align more closely with the Republicans, that is why I choose to stay one.

It really amazes me that Romney, who claims to be such a fantastic businessman, can't see the opportunity a Romney/Huckabee ticket could give him. Is he really that clueless? Well, it certainly does nothing to change my negative opinion of him. Can't bring myself to vote for him....

Really? Having been chosen to speak at the convention takes you out of contention? I never realized that. How disappointing!

Romney: Convention speakers not necessarily excluded from VP searchBy Justin Sink - 08/07/12 02:56 PM ET

Mitt Romney again refused to address rampant speculation about his vice presidential search, but did say Tuesday that speakers who had already been announced for the Republican National Convention had not necessarily been eliminated from consideration.

“You don’t think that we would be so silly as to not provide from time to time the capacity to throw people off, do you?" Romney said in an interview with Fox News. "The fact that someone is speaking at the convention doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t necessarily find their speaking slot changed from one time to another.”
Some high-profile names — including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez — were announced Monday, seemingly eliminating them from contention.

Romney provided no further hints about his selection process, however.

"I am not going to give you anything on the VP front. I am not going to give you anything, no clue," Romney said. "All I can tell you is that by the third night of the Republican Convention I will have made a decision and be ready to communicate it."

On Tuesday, The Drudge Report, which famously has close ties to Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades, splashed a report that CIA Director David Petraeus could be the choice. Drudge anonymously cited an Obama donor, who reportedly was told by the president at a campaign fundraiser that Romney was considering the former four-star general.

Drudge also sparked a frenzy last month when the site reported that Rice was near the top of the VP short list.

But White House press secretary Jay Carney shot down the Petraeus idea during the daily press briefing Tuesday.

"Be mindful of your source," Carney said.

While I actually doubt that Huckabee will be picked ... IF he is I think it will have been one of the best kept secrets. Especially, since his name isn't even being touted.

One can only hope!
