I love good news :)

Iowa still loves Mike!
Quote:
Mike Huckabee, whose win in the Iowa caucuses in 2008 put him on the national political map, holds an early lead there if he were to run again in 2016, according to a new poll.

Quote:
The WPA Research poll shows the former Arkansas governor on top of a field of potential candidates at 14 percent.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is in second place at 10 percent, while the rest are in single digits.

Quote:
As with any early poll of a hypothetical field of candidates, this poll should be taken with a grain of salt. But it does suggest that Huckabee is still well-regarded in Iowa, even as other Republicans have emerged as bigger voices in today's GOP.

I'm surprised Walker is as high as he is, and surprised Santorum and Perry are so far down.

Wisconsin is a neighbor state, so Iowans probably hear more about
Walker and Ryan than most of the rest of us.

I really think many of those "undecideds" will jump in for Gov. Huckabee if he declares.

Christopher.Wilkerson,

I think Santorum never really had any support "of his own" - Santorum's supporters were former Huckabee supporters who chose him simply because Huckabee didn't run.

I'm seeing a lot of movement towards Walker - he seems to be the new favourite among those who supported Romney in the last election. Christie used to be their guy. Hey, wouldn't it be nice if the moderate vote were to be split, allowing a conservative like Huckabee to win? Usually it's the other way around - I think a change could do us good :)

Would Walker be considered a moderate? I got the impression he was a pretty solid conservative, including social issues. If Mike doesn't run he's on my short list of people I might consider supporting. Subject to more research that I'm hoping won't be needed. :pray

No, I wouldn't consider Walker to be a moderate - but he IS supported by moderate, Romney-Republicans. I was simply saying that I hope that the moderate vote is split, and Walker seems to be doing the trick right now (splitting the Romney vote with Christie that is).
