Huckabee campaigns through north Iowa

By Levi Ismail Published: June 5, 2015, 7:42 pm

MASON CITY, Iowa – He’s one of the most talked about presidential hopefuls yet and today Mike Huckabee is in Mason City.

The former Arkansas Governor was greeted at the Mason City Airport to a round of applause that he says even caught him off-guard. After greeting local leaders and airport restaurant managers, Huckabee began speaking on the country’s economic state.

Huckabee says he’s seen enough of Washington prospering and if he’s elected president, he’ll ensure that the rest of America has a fair share.

“The sad thing is we have a lot of people in this country that want to reach the next ring on the ladder and just make it to the middle class. Some just want to make it a ring up to the next level in the middle class and they’re having a hard time getting there. In large measure because the economy in most of America is not in recovery,” said Huckabee.

Huckabee continues by saying the country deserved a president who has the business experience to lead us out of a financial downfall.

“”I’ve worked in the nonprofit sector and I’ve worked in the public sector. Those of you who have ever been in a business or are now, wouldn’t it be nice to know somebody in the White House has actually signed the front of a paycheck and understands how it works to have to hire staff and work with people,” asked Huckabee.
