Mike Huckabee Wins Florida Taxpayer Summit Straw Poll
Submitted by Kevin Derby on August 28, 2015 - 8:44am

At Thursday’s Florida Taxpayer Summit in Orlando, former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., won a Republican presidential straw poll.

Huckabee won the straw poll of more than 100 attendees with 26 percent while former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., tied for second with 13 percent each. Donald Trump took 11 percent.

“It was a clear win for Huckabee and it wasn’t even close to his nearest competitors, Rubio and Bush, who have both won statewide elections,” said Keith Recine, the president of the Florida Taxpayers Union.

Former U.S. Rep. Barry Goldwater, Jr., R-Calif., the son and namesake of the conservative icon who challenged President Lyndon Johnson in 1964, was the keynote speaker of the event which was hosted by the Florida Taxpayers Union and Ax the Tax
