This article is sort of Neutral, but makes some interesting points

http://www.redstate.com/blogs/jbonham76 ... g_the_race

If you don't want to read the whole article, here is the section on Huckabee

Quote:
Mike Huckabee: Huckabee is a spoiler for Thompson first, Romney second. For Thompson it is on a grander scale, for Romney it could be on a local scale. Huckabee is what Thompson should have been. Thompson had a huge party thrown for him and was late showing up, and when he did no one could tell if he wanted to be there. Huckabee threw a couple parties, and now people seem to like the cake, they are still deciding on the gift.

If things prove to be more than a short bounce for Mike, then the question will quickly become what is the rationale behind Fred’s candidacy? Fred was supposed to bring the SoCons home out of the wilderness and the Reagan like orator, it just hasn’t materialized. A combination of many factors left him empty handed, and it could (not definitely) become a Huckabee/ Romney shoot out for the remains of Fred.

Huckabee does provide a hurdle for Romney, should he continue his rise (I am questioning if he will.) Huckabee is undoubtedly the longer pro-lifer, and a Baptist. On the converse, I don’t think Huckabee has the credentials Romney does in fighting gay marriage, which is something Romney should start touting in Iowa should Huckabee become more dangerous.

Huckabee does have some huge hurdles to becoming a lasting nuisance to a Romney campaign, let alone a spoiler. They are 1. Money, he will need a lot of it. 2. The club for growth. 3. Huge problems on nearly every issue beyond social conservatism. For Mitt to pull this out of Huck’s hands, he needs to focus on his own fight on gay marriage in Mass., his huge economic credentials, and Romney’s ability has the best campaign organizer and executive. Huck’s niche of funny-southerner was never a niche Romney was trying for.

Very condescending. That is a niche, but his appeal is MUCH broader than that. We are seeing it more and more from various corners.
