I'd like to start a new thread for organizing homeschoolers by state. Since each state has different organizations for homeschoolers, we need volunteers to take states or regions of states for larger states. What we need to do is try to connect with homeschool groups all across each state. This is particularly essential for the early primary/caucus states. Homeschool families are more politically active than average families. They will show up to vote in the primaries. They could make the difference in the primaries since so few of total eligible voters vote in primaries. Here's what I've already sent out with an email to my local homeschool group. I am getting very positive responses from homeschool families who aren't familiar with Mike Huckabee.

1) “As Governor of Arkansas, I fought for homeschooling because I believe that ultimately the choice of how to educate our children is best left to parents and not to government bureaucrats.” Governor Mike Huckabee

This quote will get their attention because a priority for home educators is that parents are the best ones to make choices for their children.

2). Mike Huckabee has supported homeschool families for many years. In 1997, he appointed JoNell Caldwell, a homeschool Mom, as his first appointee to the State Board of Education in Arkansas because he believed that the homeschoolers in the state needed representation in the decision-making process. Jerry Cox, executive director of the Arkansas Family Foundation, recalls “Anytime there was a threat to homeschooling here in the state of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee always stood up for the homeschool families. In fact, I can recall numerous times when legislators who were unfriendly towards homeschooling would start talking about introducing a bill to regulate homeschooling, making it more difficult on the homeschoolers, and Mike Huckabee would just very politely say, “Don’t go there.” “

3) Michael Farris of the Homeschool Legal Defense Association PAC has endorsed Mike Huckabee for president. Here’s the link to the endorsement:
http://www.hsldapac.org/dnn/Home/Huckab ... fault.aspx
You can just copy the endorsement. I've done that as well.

4) Homeschooling video link: http://www.hucksarmy.com/video.php?vide ... eschooling

Some folks are very visual and Mike's own words supporting rights of parent to choose to homeschool are powerful.

If you are a home educator, you will have connections with other home educators and organizations.

Will someone in Iowa, South Carolina, and New Hampshire step forward to connect/contact homeschoolers in those states?

I will connect in North Carolina and assist home educators in South Carolina. I don't have connections there but will help send emails.

Anyone in other states willing to step up and mobilize homeschoolers in your state?

This is fantastic!!! :D Good job! Indeed, homeschoolers need to UNITE and MOBILIZE for Governor Huckabee.

Up to now, it has been a seemingly 'untapped' demographic. But Governor Huckabee is definitely the candidate that represents and embodies the beliefs of the homeschooler. And with the endorsement from Mr. Farris, it is even stronger.

I'm not connected with any homeschooling groups, but for those that are....this is a great opportunity to support Huckabee AND teach your children about politics and grassroots campaigning!!!

This thread is a great way to coordinate the Huckabee homeschoolers by state! :D Great initiative!

With only a few weeks away...this is an opporutnity for THE VOICES of HOMESCHOOLERS ACROSS THE NATION, TO BE HEARD!!!

Go Homeschoolers, GO!!!

Good job! :D

I'm going to try to look online, to see if there are any homeschooling magazines or online forums etc...that we might be able to contact, as well. If anybody knows of any, or would like to help contact these groups...please do so!! :D

Ya know, this would be a fantastic project for homeshooling kids to embark upon! Internet searching, contacting editors, letter writing, political science etc. Especially, coming from homschooled kids, it would have an even greater impact! Hmmmm.....something to consider, if you have any homeschooled children available!

I really believe this is a large untapped voting block for Governor Huckabee!

Let's go, troops!!

I might be able to help. My family belongs to a homeschool co-op that meets weekly (of course, I'm not there anymore...but I could drop in next time I'm up here) and has about 250 people. (Some of the moms need to be converted from Ron Paul...)

I'll be working our local home school association here in North Carolina! I actually started doing so a few weeks ago.

Hey, I'm a home school graduate in New Mexico, and would love to see more home schoolers supporting and campaigning for Huckabee.

What are some ways you guys would suggest getting the home schoolers interested in Huckabee? At this point I don't think it would be a good idea to put an ad in the newsletter... So far I've just been talking/emailing folks 1-on-1, but does anyone have any suggestions for subtle ways to get more folks interested in Huckabee?

One of the ideas I've had is to send an email to our local home school organization's Yahoo group telling them about some great conservative books I got our library to order - our library has ordered 4 of the books Huckabee has written/co-written, and hopefully will order another one as well. I'm hoping some will check out his books, and the others will at least become familiar with his name.

So anyway, if anyone has any more suggestions, I'd appreciate it! :-)

Joy

This is an email a friend of mine sent out to the homeschoolers: (names, places omitted)

Join us for a series of informal educational meetings regarding how the election process works, including the caucus system, primaries, conventions, general elections, electoral college, etc. Bring your questions and a desire to learn from experts in the field. Christian Lobbyist Bob ......, Thurston County Republican Party Chairman ... ........., and others will be on hand to answer questions. This is an excellent way to learn so much about our election system, which can be so confusing! Unless you already know everything there is to know about precinct officers, delegates, county conventions, etc., you need to be there!

We will meet Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. in ..... at the ...... Dental building, 115 .... Avenue. Space is limited, so RSVP right away to ......@comcast.net. This event is intended for adults.and teens.

If you have any questions or need more info contact .. or ...arr at ....@comcast.net

I was homeschooled many years ago, and belonged to a group called GHE (Greensboro Home Educators). This was actually about 15 years ago, so I doubt I know anyone still involved, but it has about 150 families as members. If anyone is already involved with this group, fine, but if not, thier website has a list of yahoo support groups. I don't have time to post there, since I'm going out to sea again tomorrow.

I did a google search on homeschooling in my part of VA. I was able to find several yahoo groups. So I created an e-mail account there and have started e-mailing some of the contacts to see if I can talk to their group or give out information about Huckabee.

I have several connections here in Georgia. I will try to get some TeenPact groups sent to the early states.

Let's roll
