Very interesting interview.

-This is the strongest language he has used when asked about whether he is considering. Mike used the word "Strongly"

- There is no doubt in my mind we are heading towards a Government shutdown and I am not sure what the political fallout is going to be. The knowledge that Huckabee shared with us that the entitlements are automated and will not stop (which was not the case in 1995) will definitely keep the heat on the President. That's not something that's out in the media. The people assume that entitlements will stop and the Liberal media is already using that as a scare tactic.

Wow!!!

This is the first time he said it: "I am VERY STRONGLY considering a run" --

"very strongly" -- with emphasis on each word.

:pray

For those that might have not seen it, there is an excerpt from the first chapter of Huckabee's new book on the ABC site.

I was planning on buying the book before the tease (already pre-ordered one copy from Amazon and buying another at the book signing in Dubuque) - but now I'm even more impatient to get my hands on my birthday gift. :D

Loved the interview, and I hate to nit pick, but I have a question. Am I missing a nuance in what the Governor was saying about only 1 incumbent President(Carter) having been "taken out" since 1868? Wouldn't George Bush Sr. count as having been taken out by Clinton too?

I noticed that too.

Huckabee said "or taken himself out."

I took that to mean that person's heart was not in winning re-election and therefore they gave the other candidate a gimme.

I think he misspoke this time. He probably meant an incumbent party president -- in other words, Carter was a democrat president following a republican president; whereas Bush Sr. was a republican president following a republican president. Ford replaced Nixon, both of whom were republicans. His point being, I think, that it is tough to remove an incumbent whose party has served only one term in the White House. Another way to state it: When a party replaces a party in the White House, they have gotten two terms since that 1800, other than Carter. A little different flavor...and not as hard as it seems.

I think I have heard him saay this before...and that is what he meant.

By the way, it emphases the similarities between Carter and Obama.

P.S. This is all pre-primary talk. The day Huckabee wins the nomination, all "Obama is tough to beat" talk will cease.

The ABC home page also says that Mike will be interviewed by Terry ? on their evening NIGHTLINE program Monday evening.

I was very happy to hear George announce, "You are at the top of our latest poll with 24%!" Great to see Mike is still # 1 with voters that includes independents and moderates because he staying "presidential" and using common sense and good judgement !! It is time the GOP operatives start showing Mike respect and support because he is the only one who can beat Obama.
