Mike Huckabee 2012 Run Looking More Likely, Key Supporter Says

Quote:
Beasley managed the Palmetto State from 1995 to 1999 and was a key Huckabee backer in his 2008 run. The one-time supporter said he spoke to the former governor and current Fox News host on Wednesday about speculation on a South Carolina blog that Huckabee was releasing potential campaign workers to go work for other candidates.

"He was really upset about it," Beasley said of Huckabee. "It really gave you a pretty clear indication that he is seriously considering [a presidential run]."

Lending support to Beasley's comments are reports about the activities of Huckabee's political action committee. According to sources who asked not to be named, HuckPAC is offering campaign positions to operatives under the premise that a run is a done deal. (HuckPAC director Hogan Gidley has denied that any final decision has been made.)

Huckabee's 2008 campaign manager Ed Rollins also said he thinks the Arkansan will decide to make another go at the GOP nomination. Huckabee remains one of the top names in most polls measuring Republican voter attitudes toward the 2012 field.

Great! The tune has really changed over the past weeks, hasn't it?

I'm glad Huckabee came out so strongly against this rumours, they did have me worried for a second.

Yes, Governor Huckabee is really showing that he will attack lies this time around, if he runs. The South Carolina blogger shows what kind of underhanded means will no doubt be used. We have to be ready if Mike announces. I think it looks more promising all the time. And probably the biggest encouragement for him is to have the grass roots (us) telling him we will pray and work and do all we can if he will run. This means a lot to him. Yes, he would have to give up a couple of very lucrative jobs to run. But, if you read his story of how and why he decided to run for governor, you would see that money is not the motivator in Huckabee's life. In his book, From Hope to Higher Ground, Huckabee writes:

Quote:
By now, Janet and I had achieved a level of comfort neither of us had ever dreamed. We were both thirty-six years old, had three children, a good dog, and lived in a nice five-bedroom home with a pool on a cul-de-sac.

I vividly remember the long walk in the neighborhood we took one winter night. We decided that if we indeed were put on earth to become "comfortable," then we had hit the target. Ours was an enviable life in many ways, but as we walked and talked and prayed, we decided that the purpose for being on earth is not our personal comfort but to strive to make the world better for our children than when we found it. (From Hope to Higher Ground, pg. 5)
