I can't believe I missed seeing Kate Middleton, commoner, marry Prince William this AM! I was here instead, reading about Huckabee. Oh, well, there have to be reruns.

What are your impressions? Kate had a beautiful, not overly ostentatious gown. What I like most is that all the world is celebrating a wedding, and thereby the institution of marriage. May God bless this marriage and make it strong.

She was quite lovely :) the wedding quoted several scriptures which were very good. Certainly promotes one man and one woman for life under God....

I didn't see it but I'm really happy for William. He seems like such a nice young guy. His mom would have been very proud of him.

I'm on my way to a "Royal Wedding watch party" this morning, so I haven't seen it yet. I've got my scones in one hand and clotted cream in the other....so excited for them!

If they are able to make this marriage work it will be so good for the whole British nation. There is much more at stake then one young couple.

Erick Erickson was just sneering on the radio at the attention the Royal wedding got here in the states, because after all, we threw off the weight of the crown back in the 18th century.

I don't know, though. There's always been an Anglophile wing in American politics (conservative Federalists) and a Francophile wing (revolutionary Jeffersonians). Since WWII I think the former has been rejuvenated and we refer to it as the "special relationship," and I'm happy about that. To that extent, I hope the couple can provide a standard of virtue for their people because I'd like to see the mother land flourish. Britannia needs help, she has all the problems we have but in spades.

I for one was horrified when Mr Obama said, "We don’t have a stronger friend and stronger ally than Nicolas Sarkozy, and the French people." And earlier in the administration when he sent the bust of Churchill back to the British PM. If you don't want it in the Oval Office, move it to another room, don't be so rude as to send it back.

I'm not really into the whole royal thing either - but, I can't help but be happy for William. He just seems like a really cool and nice guy and his mom was wonderful. Also, the Brits have been great allies for such a long time and if they're happy, I'm happy along with them.

In a way the British monarchy is constantly up for "reelection". The British people through parliament could easily vote to eliminate their position. I'm sure that knowledge weighs very heavily on all of them and they work really hard to maintain their popularity with the majority of the citizens. I suppose as long as the majority of British citizens believe that they are well served by the monarchy then they'll have it and I wish them well. Obama is full of bologna when it comes to France vs. the UK. France was completely MIA when it came time to deal with Hussein because they were profiting from the situation. The UK sent their soldiers to die alongside ours, even their prince joined in the fight. That's an ally. Btw, how dare Obama insult my cousin by sending back his bust. :x

I hope when Huckabee becomes President he will restore strong ties back to the motherland.

I do wish the best for the newlyweds, but I've never been much into the royals watching fluff. I do have to say that this does make me nostalgic for the conservative time period back when Lady Di turned Princess had her over-hyped wedding. Hope this new union has a happier ending than the other...

Cal Thomas summed it up pretty well for me

Governor Huckabee might have answered the same, if asked. Couples who cohabitate first have a much higher rate of divorce. This has become, unfortunately, normal practice since the sexual revolution.

I do like the pomp on occasion, the artistry, the glory, the history, I admit. There is great beauty that wealth can bring. It does not, however, assure happiness. We must pray for this couple. I am glad they are going back to duty (the Duke to his military service) and she to set up a very modest home. May God show them the way to establish a happy home, and may some of the beautiful words spoken at the marriage ceremony guide them.

Marriage is rare in Sweden. Cohabitating with someone for your entire life is more common, though it typically doesn't last your entire life.
