This makes me sad. :( I grew up in Florida, about 1 1/2 hrs south of Kennedy Space Center, and watched the first space shuttle launch and all the the ones thereafter until January 28, 1986. I was working that day...the day of the Challenger disaster and received a phone call that it had exploded. I was able to go to a window and could see the white trail of the explosion. It was surreal. Space shuttle launches have become so routine in the decades that followed, but I still remember what a marvel they were in their early days. Sad to see the end of an era...

With our economy in the doldrums as it is, will we have a space program? Will the Kennedy Space Center be used?

I grew up mostly in Florida & then we moved to Houston in '81 so we've always been more or less tuned in to the space program. It is so totally wrong that Obama gave to NY the shuttle that was supposed to go to us - spiteful, hateful man.

(Ever notice that the things he chides others for - esp Republicans & conservatives - he is always practicing some form of himself? Liberal-socialists are such hypocrites)

I was sad to see none in the 2012 field really stick up for the space program in the debate. W to his credit was good on this. Pretty sure he wanted to land on Mars and have a colony on the moon! The United States should continue to lead mankind into space.

They waste, they wither worse; they as they run
Or bring more or more blazon man’s distress.
And I not help. Nor word now of success:
All is from wreck, here, there, to rescue one—
Work which to see scarce so much as begun
Makes welcome death, does dear forgetfulness.
Or what is else? There is your world within.
There rid the dragons, root out there the sin.
Your will is law in that small commonweal…

Have you ever noticed how Obama seems to like his executive privileges? Spending the taxpayers money on worthless programs, and for himself and his family to take trips, etc.? Now who gave him this right to decide where the shuttle goes? Wouldn't that be something that the people at NASA might have a say in? Or us, the people of the states? Power-grabbing, indifferent to right, enemy of American economy and progress. Liberal-socialists are self-focused and power hungry, not caring about the people or our freedoms as they proclaim.
