Quote:
Mike Huckabee has been approached by Republican and conservative activists unhappy with the current crop of presidential hopefuls and he is considering entering the fray, two sources who have spoken with Huckabee told Reuters.

Please keep praying (and fasting, if you feel led). May God make His will known to Gov. Huckabee!!!!

I posted the link on my FB page with my input (below), hoping others will feel led to pray and contact Gov. Huckabee!

Quote:
Letters have been pouring into Gov. Huckabee this week, asking him to prayerfully reconsider his decision in May not to run. Praying that God will make His will clear....we NEED a leader with Huckabee's wisdom, for such a time as this!

Well that's more like it.

I do not see that Gov. Huckabee has any strong passion to enter the race just to gain notoriety, fame, or fortune. In this way, he is harder to predict than the average Joe.

The first time he ran, Huckabee felt compelled because of encouragement from certain Christian leaders that he could make a difference for America.

He still has that passion and motivation, but it does not seem that he sees the Presidency as necessarily the venue to do this. That is where our prayers and encouragement with letters or emails to him might make a difference.

Americans care deeply about the direction our nation is taking morally and spiritually; the many societal, financial, and security problems stem from our declines in these areas. We know it. We want someone with the moral courage to stand firm, to be principled, but someone who does not manage to drive people away, as too many conservatives seem able to do.

Mike finds the middle ground of agreement on many issues, while maintaining his conservative principles. And this is something few conservatives seem able to do with their "all or nothing" ideas.

I see almost a desperation to replace Obama and this administration. Three years has been more than enough for most people to see that we do not want four more years of not only leftist, but also irresponsible leadership.

We want a President who does not take advantage of his position to live like a king, with paid vacations, private jets, tax-payer paid campaign buses, golf courses shut down so he can play, play, while Americans are suffering rising unemployment and even increasing poverty among some groups.

As Huckabee points out, unwed, single mothers and their children are as a rule much poorer for life. And much of the poverty that children are experiencing comes because of the moral and spiritual decline that has led to broken families. These families desperately need fathers who stay and help raise the children and provide for their families. (I do not just blame the fathers.)

Now, if enough of us pray, and certain influential Republican conservatives again plead with Huckabee to run, and this time assure him of needed funding, he may possibly reconsider.

Two things need to happen: God's assurance to go ahead, and the conviction that he is the man and this is the time.

The sites are all lighting up with this rumor/push story/trial ballon/news.

Politico and redstate both have it up. One thing is clear: there is dissatisfaction with the current choices.

Eric Erikson has the nearest thing to a pro-Huck position I've ever seen on his site.

Quote:
had said before he decided not to run that I wished he would get in the race because his sunny optimism about the country and ability to speak on the stump so well were needed if only to force the rest of the team to their A game.

I still kind of feel that way, though I think Herman Cain is going be the guy to do that.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Huck get in, though I still dislike his economic policy unless he’s evolved on that. I also still think it is really too late for anyone to get in.

Given, however, his existing fundraising base, he might be the one guy who could do it. But I think it is kind of late.

He's always been a pragmatist first to last so he's hedged his bet due to the weakness of what we've currently got. Notice the "unless he's evolved on that" language. That my friends is how a blogger "evolves" from a fierce and dismissive critic into a fellowtraveler supporter.

Fun to see even if nothing comes of it.

As one of the more skeptical idealists and pessimistic optimists here ar HA I do want to warn my good friends of the obvious Lucy and the football quality of this floated story from the stand point of our historic mutual frenemy FOX NEWS.

The one thing we KNOW will happen as a result of this story by "FNC sources close to Huckabee" is that the interest in his Romney interview on Saturday will go up. That will increase both FOX revenue and the potential support for the long time FOX choice of fair haired child Romney to assend to his righful place as GOP nominee.

Just a warning. I'd love Huck to jump in and the timing is still there for a play at this moment. But so is the timing of a cheap publicity stunt.

Does anyone have the quote of Huck from Cavuto? Heard he said he shot down the rumor?

UPDATE, 4:11 pm: Huckabee himself just appeared on Neil Cavuto's show on Fox News to shoot this rumor dead: "I do not see a path for me, either financially or organizationally." He stressed that the fundamentals favored candidates who got in early and stayed faithful to the task of running for President.

Huck denied on Cavuto but once again doesn't really say "no" like so many times before.

Erick Erickson now reports on twitter that Huck's "toe in the water."

Everything is as clear as mud.

Well, that's not exactly the same thing as saying, "I'm not reconsidering."

So now all we need is someone to convince him that it's actually possible.

The more I think about this explanation Huck gave, the madder I get.

The only sure way of not having a path to the nomination is not running. If the thing is right, you do it.

Maybe he was hinting to the GOP guys that he was interested if they were?

That's what I took away from it. Otherwise, why not just say no? He's inviting them to make a move.
