As a background and reference point to my comments below, please see this article:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/03/ ... igion.html

This past week or so has been a tough one for Rick Santorum in the press. Last night, I was a little upset with Bill O'Reilly of Fox News, and how willingly he seemed to join the media in putting down a man (a fellow Catholic, even) for making an issue of contraception and standing for it as a Presidential candidate. Of course, this is Rick's personal belief, not one he wants to shove on fellow Americans. Yet the media won't let it go away. At the same time, they conveniently ignore the baggage that Obama has brought to the presidency--the record and thoughts of a radical socialist background of training and associations. Yet the President's words and deeds are carefully screened, every negative filtered out or explained and defended so as to never harm him. (As the above article reveals)

I support a conservative Presidential candidate to defeat President Obama. After study and observation, I have concluded that, while Santorum shares most of my values, America needs someone who, while tough and scrappy himself, can protect the innocents, the Christian seeking to live righteously, and the freedom-loving average American who cares more for family than politics. Like the soldier. The one with the toughness and the experience in facing a hostile news media is Newt Gingrich. Given how the media treated him in 1997, he would likely stick up for Santorum on principle. It's easy to see Gingrich standing in protest against the liberal media that is destroying freedom in America to hold forth our own beliefs in the public square. As Commander in Chief, Gingrich would also be able to articulate the plans and rally the troops as none other. His skill as a communicator is unrivaled.

Speaker Newt Gingrich is a warrior, a general, a great communicator. He is perhaps the only one who can succeed in this battle to unseat President Obama. Newt has faced slings and arrows aplenty before. And he has come back stronger than ever. That is one of the main reasons I pray he gets in as President. He is the one to take on the liberal/Democrat media without flinching and comes back from defeats in the little battles more determined than ever to win the big, important ones for his fellow Americas. He loves this challenge. Newt is the principled fighter, the Crusader who cares not what the enemy throws against him. Back in 1993 to 1994 he was the only one who could successfully lead the nearly insurmountable effort, to plan and tirelessly fight the battles necessary for the Republican Revolution. It took, as Time magazine wrote when they named Newt Gingrich Man of the Year for 1995, a man with leadership so strong that success was "inevitable." He led the way, while Santorum, J.C. Watts and many other young politicians cut their teeth on his leadership training program, AKA learning to push corrupt government out and to dare to believe that conservatism could rise. Many Republican representatives learned and benefited from Newt's shrewd and powerful mind--the mind and will of a fighter, a natural-born soldier whose flat feet nevertheless kept him out of following his father's military shoes.

At the time, Gingrich was sharply honed and passionate to win Washington for conservatism. Today, after further maturing, we see the same toughness and passion, but we see it in a humbled man, one who learned he must deal with his own sins and moral failure. But more, he had to deal with the pain of unfair accusations of his foes and the abandonment of many of his "friends." I am speaking of the false, trumped-up charges of tax fraud, brought in 1997 against Newt by the US House ethics committee, by disgruntled and envious Democrats. Determined to destroy him, they knew the liberal news media would support this effort to destroy Newt's career and ruin the Republican conservative boom. And it happened. In the useful hands of a liberal media, charges were forwarded and only the Democrat's side of the story was told. Newt Gingrich was tried and condemned in the press. Later, when all charges were dropped, and the IRS could find no fault in him, only CNN was courageous enough to publish that Newt Gingrich had been innocent of all charges.

This year we have the same man running now for President, yet one who has been changed into a ''cheerful" (as he described himself in the last debate) man. Still the warrior, he is like the Navy Seal portrayed in the movie, "Act of Valor." Seals are told to make sure everything is peaceable on the home front--the marriage and relationship with children--before they go to battle, so that battles at home do not distract them in their dangerous missions. Newt Gingrich, the man, has born the reproach of false accusation, but also the guilt of his own sin. Apparently, God knew he needed this time off to heal, to recoup, and to work on the inner man. He has now become a repentant man, before God. As often happens in life, it takes a crisis, a time of trial and tribulation, to mold us into what we should be. And Newt has had over a decade to ponder his need personally of forgiveness from the God he knew from youth, yet needed to trust in a new way in his own crisis. Now the repentant man goes about, speaking for principles of freedom under the Constitution as a different man, a servant of God and spokesman for freedom. His mission: to defend truth and the "unalienable" rights of the people, like Senator Santorum, to be Christian and defend unpopular beliefs. Crowds now rise with standing ovations to cheer Gingrich because he defends them, sending his darts against the hypocritical bias of the liberal press. Santorum does have the right to his own beliefs on contraception. He has the right to speak without being reviled unfairly for his faith. And it will be Newt who most strongly stands and defends these rights.

President Obama is by far the most radical leftist of any President we have had. We simply must join hands as conservatives to defeat him. He is more liberal than Jimmy Carter ever imagined being. His ideas for changing America by putting in place BIG government, which will erode our freedoms and enslave every man, woman, and child under its control, make it imperative that we defeat Obama. His ideas of bowing in appeasement to enemies foreign and domestic weaken this nation. Today, Newt Gingrich is the cheerful warrior, happy to slay the dragons of media bias, hypocrisy, and tyranny against the free minds of the people. is the one we need at the helm as Commander-in-Chief.

In the Bible, Solomon spoke of his banner going before the army. Often, a banner would contain words of valor or favorite colors to encourage the troops. Here at Huck's Army we learned all about how to fight fairly and tirelessly when we fought to elect Gov. Huckabee. A "good fight" must be one that not only defeats evil but rejoices in victory for freedom and truth. These days, I have found some of my favorite slogans for the banner of our battle for the survival of a free America among the speeches of the Cheerful Warrior, Newt Gingrich. I think these slogans are ones that most Americans could march with, a banner that signifies a protection under which they could rest secure:

We are here to fight for a FREE AMERICA!

America works best when Americans work.

Drill here, drill now, don’t bow.

Rebuilding the America we love.

One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Thanks, Grace. I, too, have always thought Santorum stood for many of the things we social/fiscal conservatives are looking for. I would be happy to see him as the Romney alternative. However, I also agree with your assessment of Gingrich.

Many seem to suggest that Newt's only strength is that he is a good debater. His ability to debate means a lot to me and translates into many other strengths. In proposing solutions he is able to see the big picture as he looks at history and as he makes use of his wealth of knowledge on other subjects. He has demonstrated that he is a strong leader and can get things done. He does more than just propose solutions--he's more than just a big talker.

I really would like to see him up against Obama, but I'm afraid that the media giant is going to rule the day as they destroy Santorum and Gingrich. And Romney has given the media too much to feed on in his past (Romneycare, etc., etc.); I just don't see how Romney can win:

So we pray, and wait to see how the Lord will answer our prayers--as He always does.

Excellent post, Grace! This is exactly why I support Newt. And this whole contraception garbage is so ridiculous and such a distraction, which is exactly what they want.

Thanks Grace for another excellent post. I am still amazed with your ability to articulate your thoughts and express them so gracefully--you were obviously given the right name. :) This is one of those I would like to share on my wall, but will wait to see if you might post it in a blog site so I can share it with a link.

Ha ha! You are so funny! Don't you know I would rather be a speech writer and you could be press secretary! Of course, with someone like Newt, he would have little need for someone to write speeches. He speaks without notes!

I appreciate your positive comment. Usually, I try to remember to pray before I write something that God will keep me from writing anything harmful or false, and that what I write will bless Him and others. When I forget that prayer, it is usually obvious. Yes, I will try to get this reposted on necessarythings.us, where it will be easier to link.
