Wendero, hey, don't be insulting! No, my kids said 'if' not 'when'! There's no denying this is going to be a painfully close race - and most likely it's going to be a looong night. They've been enduring my political depressions since I started following Huck, & they know that IF I end up in a funk, it is best to steer clear, lol! Sigh.

Me three - I had so hoped that PA would help to mitigate OH's importance.

It really irks me to see so much of our country 'red' and Mr. 'blue' is still winning. My DH wants to force the two coasts to leave the union & form their own countries & leave the rest of us alone!

We lost WI. :(

We NEED VA, NC, FL, OH, and one more state to reach 270.

Well it's all down to Ohio now.

The appeal to the center does not seem to be working. As the old quip says, "give folks a choice between a Democrat and Democrat and they'll pick a Democrat every time."

And yet, the 'moderate' Republicans will continue to blame the social conservatives.

QVA, sorry, I had no intention of insulting your kids. I'm sure they're lovely :) I personally went into a depression after Huckabee's announcement that he wasn't going to run.

This is looking really bad. But it's not over yet.

8 battleground states
CO - Romney
IA
NH
FL
OH
VA
NC - Romney
NV - Obama

I believe VA will go Romney, but I am losing confidence in FL. If IA, NH go Obama as I think they will, and Romney loses FL - then OH won't help, will it?

To beat a broken drum for the millionth time, it would have been to Romney's advantage if he had spent at least a little more effort trying to reach out to African American voters, who were all but officially excluded from the GOP's strategy for this election. That's what probably gave Pennsylvania to the President. Also, the various state initiatives that were widely perceived as attempts at depressing voter turnout may have had the ultimate effect of motivating a larger amount of minority turnout.

Romney wins all of Nebraska's electoral votes.

Obama wins all of Maine's electoral votes and New Mexico.

Well, the board is going out for me again. I haven't been able to read any posts since my last one until this point, & now the board is coming in all messed up again. Not sure how much I will be able to read or post from here. Is that another bad sign?

Anyway, I'll keep trying, but if this should be my last post, I just want to say that no matter how things turn out tonight, God's message to us is clear: we need to re-evangelize this country - our political mess is the symptom not the disease. Tomorrow, it's back into the mission field! :)

So disappointed in how the votes are coming in. I was very hopeful that RomneyRyan would win.

Can't understand why people would want to vote for Obama who has the country hanging over the fiscal cliff. Raising taxes is not going to fix the problem.

Sigh...

ConservTexan,

It's all about how we failed to counter Obama's rhetoric: If you promise to raise taxes for the rich and fix things that way, non-rich people interpret this as "I get my economy fixed without making any sacrifice - hey, that's a great deal!". I remember a youtube video showing that the deficit could not be closed even if we confiscated all the rich people's money. That video should have been turned into an ad. People have to understand that no economic crisis ever has been solved by just raiding the rich.

I'm not dogmatically against tax hikes, but Obama has shown himself out of ideas. It's all class warfare from his side, he has no other solution than just to raise taxes for the rich. And since that won't be enough, his next solution will be to raise taxes on the middle class.

Dick Morris tweets:

Florida just closed to a 18,000 Obama lead It had been 50,000. Looks better

Ohio closed well from a big marfgin in early voting to a 2 pt obama lead with still 1/3 left to count. good sign

It may all come down to Col

Maybe, but Morris predicted a Romney blowout.

It's still possible for Obama to lose, but there are some things we know for sure. The overly optimistic predictions by Barone & Morris were wrong. All along I've felt they were confusing anti-Obama sentiment for pro-Romney sentiment. There were more than enough people who weren't happy with Obama, but Romney didn't give them enough to vote for him.
